Boulder257
Is there a program that allows a person to modify a save file or the game so that they can edit the weapons, clothes, appearance, etc. of their character?

Boulder257
gracias, although I didn't explain what I was looking for all that well. What I want to do is take my save game, let's say I only have an ERIS T-Shirt, and add a green hoody to my character...so I don't actually want to modify the actual item, instead I want my character to have clothing that I have not purchased yet? Hopefully that makes sense and I didn't confuse even more!
matt27689
Can't you just buy it? :I

Faye
Here Short and sweet. That didn't really help, and was a little bland. ~Fenn
pdescobar
Is there a program that allows a person to modify a save file or the game so that they can edit the weapons, clothes, appearance, etc. of their character? I'm not aware of a full-blown save editor. The only save-related tools I've seen mentioned here are SAMA(which just displays information about what's been done and doesn't edit anything) and Shahid's GTASA SF (I can't tell exactly what it does by the description.) I would not be surprised if some form of save editor has been created, but I wouldn't know really where to look. Try some Googling or spend some time coming the various GTA modding sites. As a last resort, if you're comfortable with hex editing you could always take a look at the save format and start messing around yourself; although for something like what clothing you own it probably wouldn't be worth the hassle of hex editing the thing. NightHawk231
Hey p.d. Shahid's program you referenced merely allows you to select from more than the standard 8 savegames available on the PC...It seems to hook into the Save Game/Load Game options...Would seem to be very useful to someone who likes to save just after each and every successful mission. NightHawk231
p.d. Perhaps I wasn't clear... It modifies nothing... It just gives you more save game slots... As to the original question, just go do the "OTB trick", win millions of dollars and BUY the damned clothes!...MUCH less hassle that way...I have seen NO such animal (functional, that is) as a "Save Game Editor"... Cheers/NightHawk EDIT: p.d. --- NOW we're cookin' with gas...That's exactly what it does. EDIT: Boulder257 ---I had also read the article p.d. referenced as "save format" and that's the closest I've seen anyone get to "understanding" let alone modifying the save files... pdescobar
p.d. Perhaps I wasn't clear... It modifies nothing... It just gives you more save game slots... No, I expect you were clear, but we have different definitions of modify. By "modify" I mean it changes the behavior of the game. It doesn't alter the actual save file data, but instead alters how the game handles saves by allowing more than 8 slots to be used. Is that it? I am thinking of it in terms of a car spawner which doesn't change any files but instead alters the memory of the running process to make a car appear. Regardless, it isn't anything like what the original poster wanted.

balmung03
if they are mods to files like effects.fxp, particle.txd, shopping.dat, or something like that, simply find the file in your san andreas files under program files (this is the default folder it saves to, you may have changed it); if it is a car mod or building mod, or something large like that, you will need to download a tool called IMG tool 2.0 (located here), and then open up the "gta3.img" file, located in your game file under models\generic. use the find option to find the .txd and .dff for the car you wish to replace (make sure to either back up the original .txd or .dff or back up the entire .img), and then use the replace option to insert the new files in. then choose the rebuild archive option (this will take a while, about 3-5 minutes), and then close the program. most vehicle mods also require you to edit such files like 'vehicles.ide', 'handling.cfg', 'carcols.dat', and 'carcols.dat'; these files can be opened and edited using notepad, and then saving the new one (again, backing up the original, or original line(s) if you plan on modding a few times or more is recommended). hope this helps.
