Loman
I just got a new DVD burner about 3 days ago, installed it, and it worked great. It would burn CDs in about 2 1/2 minutes. But, something seems to have gone wrong, because now it takes 20 minutes to burn a CD. Also, when it gets to between 96-99% finished, it fails. I checked to make sure it was set to 40X, it was. I tried to update the drivers, but I couldn't find any. I also tried updating my IDE Controller drivers, but I couldn't find them, either. My burner is an HP dvd740i, and my IDE controller is "Intel® 82801BA Bus Master IDE Controller" Please help
dustcrazy
First off make sure the CD-Rs can be writen that fast and also RWs take longer. As for drivers I couldn't find any updates. Make sure you use Nero as that may help.
anus
I know the solution to the burning failing part, the CDs cannot be written at the speed selected, even if they say you can write it at that speed, some don't. This happened to me lots of times too, so I suggest you write them at the slowest speed possible.
Loman
I just burnt my last blank CD last night, it took 25 minuites, too. They say on the cover that they are capable of 52x, and they are CD-R's (no W). The brand is Memorex. I am using the latest version of Nero. It worked fine with the first 7-8 blank CDs, but the last 2-3 took over 20 minutes. I went into the device manager and found my IDE controller and clicked "Update Drivers", it took a while and finally it finished and I rebooted. In the device manager, where it used to say "Intel® 82801BA Bus Master IDE Controller" it now says "Intel® 82801BA Ultra ATA Storage Controller - 244B " So I guess something happened. I'm out of blank media, so I can't try it out right now, but when I get some more. I'll try it Thanks for the help
