_-playero-_
I was watching some trailers from the apple site, and well, 720p videos look great. Question here, aren't DVDs suposed to be played in high definition? If so, why do they look so standard when I play a dvd in my computer? I mean, 2.4GHz must be enough right? Kaj.
I don't think your CPU speed has as much to do with your High Definition problems as your monitor does. If your monitor (or video card, for that matter) cannot handle HD, then that's why it doesn't look as good.
Wolf68k
No DVDs are not in high def. They are digital and wide screen, but not high def. High def DVDs are where HD-DVD and Blu-ray come in,both are fighting to be the standard for high def DVDs.
jersiq
And on that note,Toshiba showed some HD-DVD players at CES today, while Pioneer showed a Blu-Ray Disc player as well. Source Don't mind the 1,800 U.S. dollar price tag though.

Now, if you have a LCD, it'd be better because your TV has a very low resolution, and LCD's don't. They have good, high resolutions.

A CRT is very high-def also, and look much better than LCD's for pictures and video a lot of the time. By no means does any LCD just beat them by default. If you're watching high-def content, it will look very good on a PC monitor ABOVE 720p(1280x768, for most intents, though actually 1366x768). It will also obviously look excellent on a High-def TV. But with standard DVD's, the difference between a PC and TV is minimal unless you have a crappy TV or monitor, or aren't doing enough post-processing. _-playero-_
But for example, if I have access to a hdtv signal, and if I use some product like this, will I be able to see hdtv in my laptop?

I'm pretty sure that won't do HD over the air, it just appears to have readyness for it, but no tuner. I'm not sure there are many, if any, USB HDTV tuners. Also, your laptop would need to have a screen capable of the resolution. Basically, 1280x768 and up.
