Mayhem-
Will this work on 2.0 or only version 1?
adamcs
Only version 1 as far as I know...
kyeman
2.0 doesn't support modding. R* have made efforts to prevent mods from running. So it's unlikely we'll ever support it.
Kalegula
hmm i think most of the GTA SA Fans have allready 2.0 installed. (me not O.o but okay) is the 2.0 fix only a exe fix or a fully exe+files fix? because when its only a exe fix i think it would be easy to write a 1.0 GTA:SA:MP.exe privat for ONline and Lan Games O.o
jax
If we were to write a 'fix' to un-do R*'s efforts to prevent modding in the 2.0 version of San Andreas, then we'd get on their bad side, which is the last thing we want to do. They've purposely made that version of the game to prevent modifications from being run, and thus it's out of the question. nuff said. -jax
jacob.
Yeah, ya'll might run into a bit of a problem. A lot of people who bought 2.0 will have to (illegally) obtain the 1.0 executable to play your mod. I'm not sure what can be done for that. (me not O.o but okay) is the 2.0 fix only a exe fix or a fully exe+files fix? no. the 2.0 patch is not available separately, so the only people who have 2.0, is the people who've bought the game since the fall when it was re-released. Thats means everyone who got the game up until that point, is running 1.0 or 1.01. in the long run, there might very well be more copies of 2.0 in circulation, but for now theres enough of the originals to make mods like this worthwhile. Why would it be illegal for them to obtain a 1.0 or 1.01 version of the binary if they've purchased a license for the game? It's really not our problem anyway. We're here to have a bit a fun making a multiplayer, not pay for someone's mistake of leaving sex animations in the final build.
DexX
Why would it be illegal for them to obtain a 1.0 or 1.01 version of the binary if they've purchased a license for the game? well having that exe wouldn't be illegal, but the method of obtaining it might be. im pretty sure hosting the exe itself is a big no-no, and the only other popular method of getting one, is presumably to download the full game, which is again frowned upon. Statico
As far as I know, no multiplayer mods are providing any kind of patch/support for version 2 exe's.
njr1489
It doesn't matter if you have 1.0 or 1.01, just the way you get it.

It's not illegal at all as long as you bought the game
DexX
are you stupid? Apparently you are. redistribution (and modification) of the exe IS illegal. Being that the exe is whats preventing 2.00 from loading mods, its the part of the game that would need to be replaced (ie, downloaded). And "backup sites", are are best, dubious in nature. The fact that there are "alot" of them, means nothing. But the fact that alot of them get shut down, should tell you something. In either case, we dont allow linking or redirecting to either source. You might also think twice before referring to any moderator of these, or other boards, as "stupid". actually the question was answered, and this topic has served its purpose. lox Edited January 6, 2006 by ashdexx
