Drakos
#1.Can i mod a PS2 version of San Andreas? Yes, i am not so sure, but i think you can. #2.If so how do i mod it? Requirements This requires a lot of knowledge and hardware, and 4.7 GB free disk space. As you know, DVD and CD are Read-Only, which means you are going to need a new DVD-rom to put the modded San Andreas, and of cousre a DVD burner\recorder device. You will need to download tools which are able to open SA files.(eg. PS2 TXD Viewer). lastly, your Playstation needs to be chipped, to have a chip which allows non-original DVD's to be played. These are the requirements. The Procedure Now insert the PS2 GTA:SA DVD in your computer and copy the whole game in your hard drive. Using the tools which are compatible with PS2 files, install your mods(Make sure they work fine). Then copy the game from your hard disk to a new DVD using the DVD recorder. Oooof, it took me 15 minutes to write this!
DexX
There are a suprisingly high number of topics relating to this, and its been asked many, many times. Maybe someone can tell me; What is the fascination with trying to mod SA on the ps2?? its significantly harder to do, and much more restrictive (you cant add custom textures, and the models would need to be lower detail for starters). I mean, seriously, what is the fascination with modding a ps2 game, particularly one thats on pc, and a thousand times easier to mod if the game was ps2-only, i could understand, but as it is... careca
i agree, but maybe a lot of people don't have the game for pc :S

Drakos
The chip is a chip which you can find in electronics stores. In my country(Greece), Chips are sold and istalled by Computer and game stores. To figure out your disc space, go to "My Computer" and right click-properties of your hard disk drive(C:) A window will popup with its properties where it says how free disk space there is and other info
Royal55
srry to bother anyone again but im still curious what do i do to install the mod to the disk i downloaded ps2txdviewer but what do i do from there? Future reference question: how would i know if i modded a car i did it right cause its only one car and what do i do to find out?(note this question does not need to be answered until someone can answer the question above) -Royal
fuckindumass
You do not need a chip to play modded games...just find a gameshark V2.* wait until main menu (disc stops spinning) open door without triggering door switch, or set yourself up with a hinged lid...the goal here is to swap out the disc without the ole' ps2 taking notice...it ain't gonna recheck your disc if it ain't go no reason You're gonna need a disc ID if it's an online game.....let's not go there u socom glitcher lol and oh yeah...hope you like havin lots of dvd drink coasters about the house..... now if ya got any more ? about PS2 modding, ask my bro @ash..... ok, I went for years ROFL without a proper pc.....back in the day...1983?? I played with pascal and basic on commodore64, lol poke, 53280,1 poke, 53281,0 so um, I played through (sic) PS2 GTAIII, VC, and VC was in discount bin before I had a video card......and yes, I would have used my brother's pc to burn a few mods if I had been aware..... DexX
But, i have tw0 more questions. how do i figure out how much space is on my computer "This requires a lot of knowledge and hardware, and 4.7 GB free disk space."?And how do i know if my ps2 is chipped or is this somthing that i need to buy? oh my... stop and re-examine your situation here. a *basic* understanding of how computers work is essential to modding, for either PC or PS2. srry to bother anyone again but im still curious what do i do to install the mod to the disk i downloaded ps2txdviewer but what do i do from there? As the name implies, its just a viewer. its not actually necessary to mod the game on the ps2. it only lets you look at the textures, not edit them. And there is no way to edit ps2 textures. how would i know if i modded a car i did it right cause its only one car and what do i do to find out?(note this question does not need to be answered until someone can answer the question above) that depends on what you mean by "modding" a car. if you change the data files, say making the wheel size larger in the IDE, or changing the handling of the car, you'd have to find it in the game, and test it out manually. If you change the DFF, there's no guarantee it will load (it should, but its not 100%) and PC txd's wont work on the ps2 period. ie, if you put a PC txd in your ps2 gta3.img, the car will *never* load, since it wont load pc format textures. so um, I played through (sic) PS2 GTAIII, VC, and VC was in discount bin before I had a video card......and yes, I would have used my brother's pc to burn a few mods if I had been aware..... well, um, good for you? my point was, compared to the pc, ps2 modding is more of a pain in the ass, taking a much greater effort, for a more restrictive platform. If people want to try it, we cant, and wont stop them. They should jsut be aware that very few people here report back successfully on that matter. I've seen a whole bunch of people start ps2 modding threads, almost none of them have come back saying "yay, i did it successfully! here's my modded <whatever>! Thats not to say it cant be done. i know for a fact barton waterduck has done it, and i saw a video of some guy who made his nrg go like 500mph, i mean it IS possible to some extent. Knife
Sooooo....what do i do to put a mod on my san andreas for PS2?i mean since that text veiwer wont do anything. Is there somthing i need to download or somthing? The simple answer is just don't mod it. You will not find any mods apart from maby 1 or 2, its really hard and... Well Ashdexx basically said all that so yeah. If you don't have a hard drive for your ps2 thats where to start... but it would be pointless purchasing one for GTA and 'trying' to mod it. Craig Kostelecky
As others have said, modding the PS2 is very difficult, time consuming, and probably expensive. The money you'd spend on getting San Andreas for the PC would be less than what it would cost you to mod the PS2 version. Plus there's hundreds of mods already available for the PC. I doubt you'd find much at all specifically for the PS2. Simply put, if you want to mod the game, get a copy of San Andreas for the PC. Although finding v1 (the one you can easily mod) may be difficult at this point.
