Vozzz Posted January 3, 2006 Share Posted January 3, 2006 well i played gta when it just came out, and got quite far. Recently i wanted to paly it again, but couldn't find my cd. Well i went to the store and bought another copy. It was on sale and i got it for 40 bucks. Australian ofcourse. Anyway i had all my save games in a separate folder. Since then i have formated my pc and stuff, but still have the save games. now when i place the folder with my save games into my document and launch a save game it always starts fromt he beginning. I fear this is because i have the 2.0 version now. Is there any other way to fix this? I did what i said in the thread about corrup[t save games, but it didnt help. Please help. You didn't by some miracle back up the main.scm and script.img from version 1 when you backed up your old save games didya? Because the changes in those two files are the main reason saves are incompatible between the two versions. If not, well, we'll have to talk further. You need to have the scripts in order to use your old save files. Something tells me you have found a way to get them which shall not be discussed here due to forum rules. Once you have the version 1 scripts, you need to convert your old version 1 save files. the first post of this topic should cover that well enough. Let me know if you have any questions. One final note: It is considered poor etiquette to post twice consecutively that close together. Which was bugging me before. I think it was the reason i stopped playing back then. Saved. Died Loaded. Everything still fine. did another mission. dyeing in the process multiple times and loading. All normal. Finished it. Saved. Died. Loaded. and ARGH!!!! it's back to what i had at the beginning. Like it's back at that mission that drives me crazy!!!. I got the old scripts and put them in my scripts folder and everything worked. Well until now. I assume that this means after installing the v1 scripts, your old save loaded fine. I'll call this "Save 1." I finished 1 mission. Which was bugging me before. I think it was the reason i stopped playing back then. Saved. You passed the next mission. Then you saved again. I'll call this "Save 2." Was it in the same slot or a new slot? Died Loaded. Everything still fine. I assume this was reloading "Save 2." did another mission. dyeing in the process multiple times and loading. All normal. Finished it. Saved. So now you've passed a second mission and saved again. I shall call this "Save 3". Again, was this a new slot or one of the slots which previously held "Save 1" or "Save 2"? Died. Loaded. and ARGH!!!! it's back to what i had at the beginning.
