I can't get ahead of the helicopter. For some reason it's too fast. Whenever I get off the bike, the chopper disappears way before I can hit it.. What can I do?

Keep following it (you don't have to be right behind him, just be able to see him). Then at one point the helicopter comes to a stop, then make your move and destroy it with a rocket. I'd prefer a heat-seeking rocket launcher for this as it makes the mission much easier.

Get a heat seeking RPG from the airport first. Then, when you do the mission, don't worry about picking up that worthless rocket launcher they want you to take. Just run up to the platform to make the copter take off and then run back down to the motorbike. Then just get onto the freeway and head down it.

 

You can also pick up an NRG-500 from the drydock and use that. Go up to where the copter is, clear out as many agents as you want to, park the bike, run up to the platform, run back to the bike and go. Don't go too fast though, because with the NRG-500 it's possible to get so far ahead of the helicopter that you fail the mission.

... just so know how to get into the airport. Drive a car down to the front gate and park it next to the security guards checkpoint, jump on the cars roof, then the checkpoint's roof, then over the gate.

Note, if you use the heat-seeking RPG, you don't even need to follow the copter. After you kill the two guys in the alley, equip the HSRPG and walk up the stairs. When the cutscene ends, quickly turn to the south, lock on and fire a couple rockets as soon as the targeting reticle goes red. The copter will turn around a nearby building, but the rockets should still get it and complete the mission.

I tried to do that once, after reading that you had discovered it as a method, but I screwed it up. Either I didn't wait long enough after the cutscene, or I turned the wrong way, or didn't turn fast enough, or something. But I just got on the bike and finished up the mission. So I think trying it your way is probably the best. If you do it successfully, fine, you're done. If you screw it up somehow, well, you've got plenty more RPG's left, just get on the bike and go after the copter.
