[email protected]
Sometimes when booting succesfully, the screen goes black and the power light flashes constantly. I don't know what the f*ck goes wrong, but after letting the system cool down for a minute or so it works again. Weird sh*t but I bet it has to do something with the PSU and the GFX card, anyone has a clue? Ok. Well after all the time the black screen issue disappeared.. Now it's back, the same thing is happening.. Just after entering Windows (when you have to fill your pass and username to log into your account) The screen goes black and the power light starts flashing.. Note: This only happens on the beginning when all these programs are executed, when the CPU is on full load. Now the weird thing is when restarting immediately (screen goes black again) and leaving it on for 25 seconds then forcing it to shut down, there happens to be that black screen on the next boot (when you cool the system down) that is saying Windows has been loaded unsuccesfully or something like that.. That is a remarkable thing, because the system actually was LOADING Windows while the screen was black and power light flashing. Weird sh*t man. This makes me think the GFX card is failing, but the system is working fine tho. Then, today.. I booted up, loaded Windows, entered my pass 'n sh*te. Prayed that there would be no black screen, but then suddenly the screen turned black and then back to normal and repeated this sequence with 10 second intervals My specs are: P4 Northwood 2.8 GHz 1 gig PC3200 DDR DIMM RAM (Twinmos) Geforce 6600GT AGP TyboTech PSU 400W Gigabyte 8IPE100-G (mobo) For the record, I have NOT overclocked anything. Logic3
Well if it works fine after letting it cool down, then maybe you just need better cooling Couldn't hurt to replace the thermal paste on the CPU either, maybe clean out the fan on the GFX too, and the rest if they look a bit dusty
[email protected]
The temperatures are fine, they are 32-38°C for the GFX card. And for the CPU 37-41°C. Thanks for posting anyway.
Logic3
I wouldn't say 37-41 are great tbh ... mine is normally about 20 .. but whatever
[email protected]
Oh guess what happened.. The computer started up by itself when I forced it to shut down Each time when I shut it down it started up by itself just seconds after, so I had to turn off the PSU, then let it cool down. I will try to get a new PSU, maybe that's the issue.
Wolf68k
I wouldn't say 37-41 are great tbh ... mine is normally about 20 .. but whatever 30-49C is perfectly normal 50C and up, personally I start to worry and would look into better cooling < 30; no problem if you are water-cooling or live in an ice box
[email protected]
The screen corrupted when I tried to post here, after rebooting it was running much more stable. So it literally takes me 20 minutes of hard work to get my system to run stable EDIT: I've concluded that the only thing that is failing is the GFX card, I mean black screen while the system is still running and that only happens on a cold boot. So when it's warmed up it jus works fine. Anyone any suggestions? Edited December 19, 2005 by [email protected]
