Mxyzptlk
I found this info: Get to Staunton Island earlyUse the following trick to get to Staunton Island before the bridge is fixed and before the subway is open. Go to the bridge to Staunton Island. Go past where the blockage cones are located, to basically be on the bridge. Enable the "Dodo car" code (press Right, R2, Circle, R1, L2, Down, L1, R1), then the "Tank" code (press Circle(6), R1, L2, L1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle). Make sure you are all the way back to get enough room to take off using the tank (as a plane). Start firing the cannon backwards and accelerate. Keep firing the cannon backwards, and just as you get to the edge where the bridge has been broken, you will take off. Try and get back on the ground. If done correctly, you will now be on Staunton Island and when you cross the bridge, the "Welcome To Staunton Island" screen will appear. Note: You can use nearly any car, but the tank has a better ability to fly higher.
Craig Kostelecky
You can jump over the bridge on foot. Check out Demarest's site for a video of how to do it.
Demarest
I forgot I had a video of that. Had trouble getting used to it in LC since the VC engine moves you faster. You have to jump from the softer incline and it's not quite as surefire. Also, originally by jcab42:
i...need...blood
i tried doing that on my PS2, the tube where i have to land is really slippery and i fall into the ocean
Demarest
Not really slippery. Just rounded, and while you're hitting it with momentum. On the PS2, it's tricky. I HAVE done it before and I'm not a regular PS2 GTA player, so take heart. You just have to stand facing west, press north, and right as he's turned in THAT direction, jump. Not easy at all, but doable.
kod94
Can I use this to go from the Staunton island to the Shoreside Vale?
ThunderPower
You can't get over the Staunton/Shoreside lift bridge without cheats, but I believe you can crash a boat on Phil's Army Surplus, get on land, and push it over the pipes. Demarest
You can't get over the bridge without cheats So the rest of this thread is fabricated? There's an animated GIF as well as a video on the subject. Try not to spread rumors and/or falsehoods on a forum.

Spuds725
I never got over early, but I thought I read that the baricades from SI to SV (for the tunnels) aren't in place until SI gets opened up....so I thought you could get over to SV once you get to SI early.... maybe I'm just remembering wrong.... glenster
Another way, which I picked up from the Rusk walk-through and which works for PC or PS2, is to back the back wheels of the car showroom Banshee out from the concrete over the tunnel in NW Portland, backing toward the water from somewhere over the middle of the road that goes through the tunnel. When the Banshee is nearly on the verge of tipping into the water, have Claude exit, and he falls onto the roof of the tunnel. Adjust the "camera" to see the tunnel roof below the ghost world stuff, and he can walk W over the middle of the tunnel, jump over a low barrier, and keep going to Staunton. There's an invisible barrier there, so he has to walk on the ledge at the side of the roof if you want him to continue to Shoreside Vale. When you want him to get on land, have him jump from below it into ghost world and he ends up on the land above. The easiest way on PC is to give a vehicle a -1 for %submerged in data\handling.cfg and have Claude speed off the broken end of the Callahan Bridge or lower part of the lift bridge. His vehicle ends up on the other side of the bridge.

Fahad
You can't get over the bridge without cheats you can unlock the other islands by doing a certain number of missions. but i haven't done it myself!!! if someone knows which mission will they plz tell me Edited January 9, 2006 by Fahad
Crowley
I came up with a method of getting past the broken bridge by parking an ambulance (good traction and height) on the left side of the edge and then jumping to a twisted steel beam from it. Fozzy Fozborne
To get from the beginning of the game, (none of the other islands unlocked, just portland), do the trick shown in the video to get to Staunton, then once on Staunton, head to the subway station or the tunnel on Staunton (you can only get to Shoreside Vale, Portland still isn't open) and I think both are unlocked so either drive to Shoreside Vale in the tunnel, or grab a car and drive the subway route (there is no train running then, and it takes ages to walk there). Have fun!
jacobjc12
you bet it takes forever to walk through one of the tunnels I did it one time to hide from the players on Multi-theft auto and I thought there would be some weapons or health. Since there was none and a guy was chasing me I just decided to keep going.
