Maqqie
Hello Everyone, I have a very annoying problem with GTA: SA that occurs every time I run it. Basically, whenever I start GTA: SA the game runs probably, however, after about 1 – 2 mins into the game, at random intervals, the game would quickly freeze for half a second, then game play would continue. This occurs every 30 seconds to 1 minute, not only when I am playing the game, but also if I press esc to go into the options menu. As I am scrolling through the options, the cursor will pause every 30 seconds to 1 minute, for half a second, then continue moving again. At first I thought it may be my PC so I sent it in for repairs, the problem still persisted. I then updated my video card drivers… that still didn’t work. Since then I have updated my motherboard drivers, re-installed directX 9.0c and installed the latest patch v1.01 and the game still had the problem. Finally I tried lowering all the game details to the lowest settings and turned off all sounds, yet the problem still existed. My pc specs are as follows: OS: Windows XP Home Edition Chip: AMD Athlon FX-53 2.4ghz Vid Card: ATI X800 XT RAM: 1 Gig Sound Card: Creative Audigy 2 Any advice would be most appreciated. Cheers, Maqqie
vALKYR
Have you reinstalled the game? Do other games work? If nothing works, go to Start > Run and type in msconfig. Then go to the Services tab and switch everything off. Then restart and try again. No audio will work now though so you need to tick one by one again and see which one is causing the freezing. I had this problem with various games now and doing that solved it all.
mikeswi
DON'T TURN OFF YOUR SERVICES. It's almost certainly another program going in the background. Most common culprits are Antivirus, Antispyware and Email programs. Turn those off, one by one, until you find it. If that's not it, do what vALKYR said, except GO TO THE STARTUPS TAB, NOT SERVICES. You can live without the startups. Many of the services are non-optional.
