GTAGarage Download

 

I've been working on this since summer and figured I'd finally kick an early version out for testing/feedback. This mod is total conversion, but can be put in liberty city. I'm not going to say how for newbs, but just add the model/map data, and in the liberty city config bump the helicopter ceiling up to 1500. Its better if you have the debug scm so you can spawn the delorean and genral to drive around with.

I'm tired and want to go to bed so I'll keep this short. What you get is 3 islands that are floating way the **** up in the sky. The middle one is about half done, the other two are just getting detailed. Lots of roads for rally racing/genral car beating are up there along with some stunt models. One being car plinko and the other a giant ski jump that I don't like and will redo in a later version. You get a main.scm that I made with it, but I'm no Barton so don't expect to much more than parked cars and unlimited run. I don't know if I'll ever finish it, but some things I still want to add are a bunch of tunnels, more varied trees, a town or two, and all that good stuff like car paths. I'm tired, going to bed. smile.gif

thanks biggrin.gif . I didn't know how to describe it and blob was the first thing that came to mind. Maybe its a clump, or a bramble of rocks. I don't know, lol.

 

Has anyone tried it out yet? I would like some feedback on what you guys like and don't so I can change things before I get to far. I want this to be a fun mod with lots of stunts and things you can do that you can't in any of the current gta games/mods. I'm trying to keep the stunt objects looking like things that you would find in real life. The pegboard you bash your car down will be detailed out a bit to look like a gravel separator, and the ski jump is going to be deleted and replaced with a logging chute. One other thing I'm adding is a ski ball thing for cars. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated. Heck if anyone wants make your own little floating islands to hook onto these go right ahead.

 

 

 

Ramblings of stuff that I just thought of:

These islands started life as rejected unfinished parts of other mods. I put them together just as somting to break modders block and they just kind of grew into what you see. Most of the buildings in it will be redone and replaced as I get to it, I have a town in works for the third island. The bottom of the one is buried in my laptop somewhere, I'll have to find it soon. The bottom of one of the tree patchs col dosen't reach the ground. Comes with a giant plain of grass that covers most of the ocean.

This is awesome.. I just tried it out and it blew me away. Cerbera's going to love this map mod for testing car speeds!

 

Go and get the parked Bloodring Banger, then go straight into the ski jump.. and keep going forward, hold the up key, then when you reach the end.. WAHHHHHHHH OH YEAH.. flyin' car!

 

That's so fun to do. Please please don't remove the ski jump.. it provides lots of fun.

 

screenies coming with a edit (game crashed because there's a few bad spots that when andy's boundries patch is applied, it crashes if you go there. i went there and.. you know what's next.)

edit: know this is a early edit, but my screenshots are going to be 1280 by 1024. just warning 56k's that my picture will be really big (i used to run the game at 1024x768, but with my new lcd i have to run the game at 1280 by 1024.)

thanks Nipa, yeah I like the ski jump too. I just don't want it to to look like some giant candy cane or somthing lol. Its also way to many polys for what it is, it really needs to be wacked down some and the little house needs better porportions and textures. turn.gif

 

If you like the ski jump try the peg board, to use it, (if your lookin at the map its the bright white line on the middle island) go up the little service road and turn into the half pipe. Floor your car or bike right over the other side and you will be (should be lol) droped right down the peg board. watch as your car has its door beat off it as you bounce of things as you fall. fun for all! Just hit the Ski ramp and now flyin'..

 

Also, could you put the world back onto normal ground? not high in the sky.. then it would become a bit more realistic. Right now I'd rather get back on the islands then get stranded on the huge square of grass and have to start a new game.

Hey Nipa would this not fit into GTA:SOL if it was put at sea level and into some space.

maybe way up north as a ski resort if it has the ski slope or just a random bit country to go about.

Not at the moment, I can't get zmodeler2 to export SA dffs corectley. I put the center island is SA but its the model didn''t show up, only the col. So what you get is a big invisable object that blows your planes up when you hit it. I tryed just doing a little tree also thinking it was maybe the size or LOD that was messing it up, but it didnt work ether. Its wierd becuse I can export cars fine just not map objects.

I'll tell you guys what I tell everyone, I think all mods should be free to everyone. I hate that "THIS IS MY MOD DON"T SCREW WITH IT OR ELSE" attitude that some people have. So if you guys want to use any parts of this go ahead, but please change everthing around enough, like the textures, maybe the models so its not the exact same thing. turn.gif

 

I'll get read of the grass plain, it was just there for testing of some racer track I was converting, but I want to keep the floating things. It opens up a whole new way for stunts. I can add more islands above and below and all around for crazy jumps from one island to the next. Wait tell I get the zepplins and rope briges done Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif

Sorry about that, Gtawip is dead at the moment give it a day or two and try again. I'll try to get it uploaded on gtagarage soon also.

 

Dang Knife, why didn't you tell me about gmax sooner? lol. Thats pretty sweet, I had never even heard about it until you mentioned it. I'm defenitley going to try to get a hold of that soon. My connection at the house is only 28k, I'll have to grab my truck and laptop and go wi-fi hunting in town smile.gif .

 

I rebuilt some carbs on my snowmobile today and froze my arse off in the process. So after that I spent a couple hours warming up and building some new stuff.

Town from the crop circle field. I realllly need to redo that field. I want to layer a bunch of alpha textures all over to actually make it a field instead of a green lego block.

Heres the start on the rope bridges. Their not turning out like what I had in mind.

 

Some other things I did. Bottom for the 3rd island, mission code stuff so you don't spawn on the ground after you die, removed grass plain, new car spawns, some stuff i forgot.

 

I may try making some ped/car paths soon, its somting I've never done before but I really want to give it a try. I was reading through some of those old bigfoot hunters post in the SA section and had an idea. I might make a player model that looks like a sasquatch, put some looped ped paths in the woods with a create forbiden for ped code on it, spawn the new bigfoot actor and make him invicible and angry. Well see how far that goes Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif

This place would be a blast in multiplayer. You could choke off whole islands just by defending one bridge! I really want to ram someone elses car off one of those bridges. 30 secs off falling lol.

Got a copy of gmax today after setting in the parking lot of a local Best Western Hotel to grab some wireless. Oh and car paths on the third island (the one with the crop circle) are done, along with ped paths. Also the new hospital. Nothing fancy just a new building with hospital signs.

looks cool, but it wont work for me. I installed everything correctly, but the game just shuts off and closes (doesnt crash) at about halfway through the loading screen... dozingoff.gif

Halfway=gta_vc.dat problem. Check that file, if you see any doublespaces or 2-on-1 line thingys, that's your problem. -Nipa

Oh yeah the map, I've never done one of those but I'll give it a shot. I usally just keep the map turned off so I don't have to look at the vice one.

Hey your mod is crashing me sometimes, doesn't load... What could be the problem, i got no mods installed than this 1.

Hmm... Hard to say what might be causing that. This mod is far from being easy on the game. The LODS are just copys of the High res, as are the cols. And the draw disntances are huge so theres a ton of unneeded polys on the screen all the time. The txds are way big too. The next relese will be optimized.

But I do have a bunch of mods on mine plus a bunch of new models for the version and its rock stable with no crashes at all. Make sure you rebuilt the img file first. If not some things you might want to check over are;

1. Brand new install of vice

2. Delete all unneeded files from img

3. Add all the Dffs first, then the txds, rebuild img

4. Replace the data folder with the new one, overwritting all old files

It should work. If not let me know.

Some new pics and progress info, I'll update the d/l after I have enough new stuff added to justify it.

 

Change water level back to 6.00 instead of 1.2 IPL units, this made boat waves apear above your boat were the normal water level was supposed to be.

 

Added some rafts, just to break up the ocean a little bit. There will be some people on them If I can figure the code out, I also plan on adding more little extras like this.

 

Added a new house/garage along with a hill it sits on, covered the town island with alot of trees and a new bush model. Fixed tree collision.

 

Started on the county fair. Ferris Wheel is done, trying to code it to spin using Y_less's awsome object coding he posted.

 

Knocked about .5mbs off the dowload size by shirking some big textures down.

 

Some "secret" stuff you'll have to find. (its visible in one of the pics)
