Vice City Classifications

G'day, I was just wondering if anyone has a list or knows of versions of VC that are censored. I'm curious as this is valuable information to have for research and development purposes of the GTA: Liberty City project. I've spent some time searching the net but can't seem to find very much information. Currently, I know of the following versions:

• Australian
• German
• French

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Isn't the some version edited so all the Haitian comments are removed? I'm not sure.

 

I can confirm that the Australian version is censored, though. But you can get around it on PC by changing regional settings.

I'm not sure - the details on some of the web pages I read were a little sketchy. I got the impression that those comments were removed prior to the game's official release, but I could be wrong. Thanks anyway - I know about the regional settings trick .

 

The problem is that the LC mod uses a custom launcher to load the VC exe so that modifications to the game can be made. But, it doesn't work on censored versions due to complications with the memory or something like that that I don't completely understand. We've (well, not me, but the LC team !) has managed to fix the Australian version, but we know of issues that still exist with the German version, and potentially with the French one. So a list of censored versions would be very helpful so we can find people to help test it out and see if the problem can be fixed.

 

I don't think the regional settings trick would work, but you've got me wondering now - I'll make sure that gets tested. It could save a lot of complications. Thanks again .
