shokoto Posted December 14, 2005 Share Posted December 14, 2005 hello all modellers i dont understand some things: i'm interested in converting exsiting GTA3/VC cars and i don't understand why all the modellers lock there vehicles, what is the big deal that someone else will convert there cars himself instead they'll do that. there are lot of vehicles out there that are highly detailed and would be perfect for SA. one other thing about the thread on converting: it has a lot of rubbish. too many unuseful words and sentences. can someone write a proper thead about how to do that step by step and also if it can be done with zmodeler. hope to get some comments thanks for your time. (maybe that's the differrent between Rockstar and microsoft(etc.), when ppl made a great planes for the game, and microsoft wanted to save there work from fs95 to fs98, they pubished a converter that fix the problem, and it was a grate success for those to continue moddeling new stuff)..... thanks. In fact, in the latest version of SA (2.00) you can't actually mod it all, not car models anyway. They increased protection between when the first version of SA came out, and the re-release. So thats one reason why R* doesn't give you a convertor tool. I think the reason no 3rd party person creates a convertor, is because the logic follows that if you know how to make a car for one game, then you know how to make one for vice or gta3 or SA, because they dont really change much. And despite what any credit-grabbing convertors will tell you, its NOT hard to convert a car from gta3 to vice to SA. one other thing about the thread on converting: it has a lot of rubbish. too many unuseful words and sentences.can someone write a proper thead about how to do that step by step and also if it can be done with zmodeler. shokoto Posted December 15, 2005 Author Share Posted December 15, 2005 thank you for your reply. 1) about the tutorial, i meant the one that this site provide in the thread "conversions". sorry, but i can't understand some things there because there is too too much written. so, i was asking if somebody can write a new and much more pleasent article about converting, step by step. or maybe someone can guide me to such thing that will help me do the job. 2) one other thing, how can i modify where i want to put a new body kit for my car, i mean to adjust it to fit to the car. 3) i have a probelm with a car that looks great in the game, but when i want to change the wheel it gives me a much bigger one, something that doesn't fit. how can i fix it. 4) and one more, another car that i use is a bit lower then the ground, how can i change its height, and also where to cancel the "lowrider" option for a car. thanks again. Augh Posted December 15, 2005 Share Posted December 15, 2005 Well, I have to physically grit my teeth while typing this; but converting or more correctly setting up a car isn't necessarily that simple. There's only so much you can dumb down a concept before the tutorial becomes utterly useless and non descriptive. I dunno exactly what terms you're referring to, but if you're meaning the tuts have "too many big/technical words", then the problem is more at your end. It is just about possible to limp by with stuff like "green floating box" meaning "dummy", but things like axis orientation will never get more simple than those admittedly already fairly simple words. You'd probably be better off listing the stuff you don't understand and having that explained, than asking for a whole new "easier" tutorial. The lock thing, everyone already covered. If a car is built, that's it, done and done, finito. NOONE except the original author ever has any business looking inside the 3d files. This is true in perpetuity throughout the universe. shokoto Posted December 16, 2005 Author Share Posted December 16, 2005 about the modeling of cars i started it a long time ago, but it was too hard cuz i wanted it to be perfect till i was tired of trying. so i know more o less about modelling. ok, so that's what happend: i modified a car in 3ds with the DFF_IO script everything went great, i found the .COL file and change the dummies's name , all the technicl stuff beside the color. but when i wanted to export the final result it won't let me do that because i have selected to many parts or not selected at all, which part do i have to select to confirm the convertion? what about the last questions i asked about the lowrider option etc. ?
