Cran.
Burning DVDs to use on a PS2.. and it's legal? What the hell are you burning? Homebrew? As far as I know, you'd need a chipped PS2 to read disks, right? Errr, anyway, if the app/game/warez/whatever it is crashes, it's most likely the data that is on the disk, not the DVD. Hmmmm, I dunno.. TDK aren't that bad. But I bet there is better out there. Maybe sony discs?
Hexhamlad
well the data reads fine and plays for say 30mins then freezes i think this is because the data is burned onto disk to fast. i use dvd decryper at a speed of 1x but when it is actually burning it says the rate is 3.5x is this the problem ? Cran.
I'm lost here. What exaclty are you burning? I doubt it's the speed too, 3.5x is damn slow. My DVD+Rs burn fine @ 8x
NeoSNightmarE
im going purely by my xbox experience with "homebrew apps" here but i would say that the speed is not the issue. 8x and under should be fine. i also know that systems are picky about what they read sometimes as ive seen as far back as the freaking Sega Saturn. if the system is starting said program/game, i think it would be the data...or a sh*t burner. but i would go more with the data. and for the record...since its a PS2 i will say this, the swap disc setup is sh*t. so if youre using that, get rid of it...its so bootleg that its pathetic. Hexhamlad
the reason i question the speed is because i have a friend who burns at 1x and has no problems. but his drive is a 8x where mine is a 16x therefore it isnt letting me burn at 1x i here that if it burns slower the disk lasts longest because it goes deeper , and is easier to read - is this true ? Tornado Rex
i here that if it burns slower the disk lasts longest because it goes deeper , and is easier to read - is this true ? No. It still puts the same data on the same disc in the same way, just slower. There's just less chance of error. Any DVD-Rs out now should be able to handle being burned to at 8x without any issues. ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~
Hexhamlad
ok so if im copying data onto a disk using an iso file what issues could make my ps2 freeze or run slowly ?
NeoSNightmarE
if its a cut up version of a game, then it could be the program they used to slice the game up to give you just the gameplay. best thing to get would be to get a 1:1 .iso for a game. but then you may need to get a dual layer DVD to burn it to. Hexhamlad
im ripping the disk from its orginal format onto the pc the copying it onto disk both discs orginal and and second one are identical in layout size file types etc.
_-playero-_
I read that it is better to burn games with lower speeds, that will make more readable to the ps2/xbox. Is that true?
Bond996
I read that it is better to burn games with lower speeds, that will make more readable to the ps2/xbox. Is that true? The slower write speed makes the write more accurate, so a drive won't have to try as hard to read it. However, with current burner technology, this should barely be a concern. Hexhamlad
so could you explain when i burn it on the slowest setting it still freezes even though im burning an identical copy of the orginal. and if it doesnt freeze then it plays the menus but wont load the game. NeoSNightmarE
i would take a stab in the dark and say possibly security checkpoints...but if the PS2 is modded this shouldnt be too much of an issue. i know that i had an issue like this with my XBOX at first and had to mess with some ripping settings. but sorry, im more of a XBOX modder than PS2 or i would probably know why.
