Jordan
Wow is this movie amazing or what? I had followed all of the production diaries and news but MAN this movie sets the new standard for action. The action in this movie is just breathtaking. WETA and ILM are in a special effects grudge match now, and I don't think ILM has what it takes to do better than WETA did in this. I was just in freaking AWE at how amazing everything looked. They should get a freaking trip to the moon just for creating a digital 1930's New York City. Everything is detailed perfectly DOWN TO THE DOORKNOBS! This movie is too much... I heard some "macho guys" laughing when Kong and Ann had moments together where you could tell Kong was having a better time, but it was nothing over the top. Also it was funny when people laughed when Jack Black first appeared. They were like "haha what is he doing in this movie?" That's when I shot those people dead, but moving on... I also heard some geeks talking about MySpace and Penny-Arcade...strange...oh well, I hope this movie does well at Oscars time as well as at the box office! it be 4am, oh god goodnight Edited December 14, 2005 by Jordan

I also heard some geeks talking about MySpace and Penny-Arcade...strange...oh well, I hope this movie does well at Oscars time as well as at the box office! Should've had the same treatment as above. I can't wait to see it, gonna go next friday with some friends. I haven't been looking at too many commercials and behind the scenes sh*t so it's all still fresh
Waddy
Thanks Jordan, I wasnt going to watch this movie thinking tackie, cheesy OTT etc. I know its going to be a little OTT with there being a 40 foot high hairy monkey, but you know what I mean. Now ill be going watching it, Sounds good, and Jack Black is always good to watch. Thanks matey!

Yo' Mama
This film is definatly on my to-do list before christmas. Saw a trailer for it when I went to see Harry Potter recently (I know, I know, my girlfriend wanted to see it cos shes read all the books) and it looks heavy.... Any film with Jack Black in it gets my vote - man is a god

ILM's biggest impression had to be Jurassic Park back in 1993. WETA's was Lord of the Rings.
GTA3Freak-2001
I knew it would be great, can't wait to go see it. I've even watched the original film, it was on TV after an interview with Peter Jackson so I am all Konged up
Wing Attack
I watched that same thing on ABC, GTA3Freak. It was cool seeing all the scenes from the original movie recreated in the remake. However, it was excruciatingly long, and most of the scenes were just like Jackson wanking over what he's got a hold of, like a kid in a candy store sort of thing. If it was an hour shorter and $80m less it wouldve been a great movie. 7/
GTA3Freak-2001
Do you mean that its long because the movie drags on or just that you don't really enjoy long movies?
papanesta
Well, it's three hours long, but as far as I'd heard so far, it's all well used. I think the old one was only something like an hour and a half. Obviously, the new film stays true, but nowadays there is so much more they can do. Goodfella.
Just saw it, f*cking brilliant. Andy Serkis deserves an oscar, I never thought a 25 foot ape could be made so believable. I'ma be honest, I was pretty choked up at the end.

O Daesu
I saw it last night. I'm assuming that I don't really need to worry about spoilers when talking about a remake of one of the most famous movies of all time. I wasn't into LOTR at all but ever since I heard about this I've been really keen to see it and now that I finally have I can safely say that it is incredible. It could've definitely been a bit shorter- the first hour could've been severely condensed and it would've benefitted the film because noboody really cares about the crew of the ship- even when some of them get killed off, and also there's too much of a Titanicky feel to the first third of the film. And while I'm on the subject of criticism, the running in between the legs whilst fighting raptors in the brontosaurus stampede was a bit stupid and I think the music was fairly bland and uninspired. The film only really starts when Kong comes into the picture (although the natives were well done and quite sinister looking), and when he does it's well worth the wait. I can't believe what an amazing job the WETA people (and Serkis) did of conveying emotion in Kong's face and mannerisms. It's mostly the eyes that impressed me- so sad looking and believable that it is not much of an effort at all to suspend disbelief and sympathise with this huge hairy monster. I thought the funniest bit was Kong rampaging round New York looking for Ann Darrow and picking up every blonde girl he saw, and then just chucking them away when he finds that it isn't who he's looking for. The way Kong will do anything to protect Ann is really effective in making you root for the ape and it also helps that Naomi Watts was perfectly cast, (because you'd probably hate Kong if he was protective over someone crap like Rosie O'Donnel). I didn't exactly well up at the end, but it is still quite sad and I think I'm speaking for the majority of people when I say that you really don't want Kong to die. It was funny in the cinema where I saw it because when Carl Denham stands over Kong's fallen body and says "It wasn't the planes that killed Kong........" some old woman in the crowd angrily shouted out "NO IT WAS YOU!!!!!!"- which I suppose speaks volumes for how believeable the character of Kong was (or maybe how stupid that woman was). There were quite a few girls crying as well. Anyways, I'd thoroughly recommend that whoever you are, go and see this on the big screen because it is an amazing spectacle and although you'll possibly get 'roids from sitting down for that long, and be bored during some parts, I guarauntee that you will at the very least be impressed in more than one instance throughout the movie. Ignore the usual saddo brigade posting stuff on the net saying it's the worst thing they've ever seen and the worst CGI ever, they do that with everything. I've already seen a 1/10 user review on Rotten tomatoes. That is just idiotic.
Goodfella.
Heh, see I didn't get bored at all. Oh yes god forbid character development!, it really helped the film you know, otherwise it'd be just a great looking monster flick. On another note I'd happily vote Kong as the best animated character ever.
O Daesu
I think the character development for the three main human characters and Kong was justified, I just didn't think the crew members really deserved it as I didn't really care when any of them died

Kanney
Wow. This movie was great, a couple of criticisms. The love story I didnt like, seemed very far fetched (I know, I know, so does a 50 foot Ape but anyway) Nice line to end it. T-Rex(s) V King Kong, was one of the best fight/action scenes I've seen in a long time.

T-Rex(s) V King Kong, was one of the best fight/action scenes I've seen in a long time. It's not so much a love story, more just the wanting of companionship. Kong doesn't love Ann in the way a human loves another human, he's just all alone and has a kindred spirit in her. Well I suppose it is love, but in the simplest form, nothing sexual ... Justin
I saw it tonight. I wasn't really impressed, to be honest. I mean, it was good. Kong looked as real as you could hope for. The action was good, and it was even funny in some parts. I feel the length ruined it though. I found myself yawning near the end of it, just waiting for it to end. Meh, probably just not my kind of movie. Good, but way too long.

Meh, probably just not my kind of movie. Good, but way too long. I kind of felt the exact opposite. The movie is long, 3 hours and 7 minutes. The time pretty much flew by, though. The beginning of the movie is what really takes off quite slowly. I don't really feel that they should've left so much in. There were many scenes that they could've edited, that just weren't needed when you got to the last parts of the film. Effects-wise, the movie is pretty amazing. I kept thinking to myself how much of a trip it would be to take someone who saw the 1933 original to this movie, to see what they're reaction to it is. Everything is incredibly detailed. Anyway, I thorougly enjoyed the movie. But that's just me. QUOTE (K^2) ...not only is it legal for you to go around with a concealed penis, it requires absolutely no registration!
