So his like WTF i just save her f***ing ass and she is mad at me? She deserves to be dead. And she gets shot. The End Claude Speed is one kick ass dude Maria didn't say it like that, she said something to the extent of: Whoa that was crazy, I broke a nail, and my hair is all messed up, this cost 50 dollars, etc.. Salvatore didn't like her (he did but he didn't), Asuka got tired of her crap, she pissed everyone off. -If Claude did shoot to scare her, it makes sense he wouldn't talk and he didn't just smack her. -In my game I believe there was 1 last Cartel sneaking around because I was like "This is the last one" and as I'm about fire it goes to the newt scene. No matter R* can never mess anything they do up, so I'm content. Btw I didn't finish San Andreas (actually just got it on xmas 2005)Claude's last name is Speed? And Claude is mute, so he don't wanna smack her face to shut her up (hes justa gentleman ), so he just fires in the air. Or maybe he has finally paid his debt to her saving his life and has no longer any responsibilities for her and shoots her. But still Maria is calling on the radio 'bout their relationship. In fact i think we will never know. Maria is annoying enough for a guy like Claude (who is really f***ing crazy) looses his patience a shoot her. Besides, like Catalina said, how do we know Claude really went for Maria and not to take down Catalina. P.D.: I don't really care about Maria, let her die and screw in hell. After getting stomped in a backroads race with CJ in SanAn, being joined at the hip to Catalina for 8-10 years, getting shot, going to jail, killing everybody and their mom in Liberty City and finally getting to blow up that crazy Colombian chica, Claude was so wracked with duress at being stuck with Maria that he did the only thing he could possibly do and be happy.......................... = Happy Claude! In fact, that question was the whole original point of this topic. I am in the camp of Demarest and others who believe it was simply done for humor value and/or to shut her up; for what it's worth, I loved it when I heard it for the first time. Good thing I was sitting on the floor because I might have fallen out of my chair. The idea is that perhaps he shot the gun into the air as a warning; I imagine it would be much more effective than simply telling her "shut up for once." well he wouldnt tell her to shut up he aint much a talker. Scrappy Posted March 6, 2006 Share Posted March 6, 2006 *** SPOILERS *** I honestly believe Claude killed Maria. You guys are missing the whole point of GTAIII. You play as a psychotic lunatic. Every decision he makes comes with no regrets; no remorse. He is out for 2 things: revenge and money. He doesn't care how he gets it, as long as he gets it. Even if that means taking out the Don Salvatore Leone of Portland, slaughtering the Waka-Gashira Kenji Kasen of Staunton, and blowing that backstabber Catalina to pieces in Shoreside Vale. 3 gang leaders dead in Claude's name. Why did he do it? The answer is simple: Money. He killed Salvatore for money, not for the Yakuza's respects. He then worked for Yakuza (for money) up until his orders were to kill Kenji Kasen; a task that required no second thought and left our protagonist with no regrets. Keep in mind that SPANK, a drug produced by the Colombian Cartel, increased in popularity as the game progressed. Those against the drug included the Mafia and the Yakuza, which eventually lost a lot of influence and power in the city (obviously). Those who had a major influence in SPANK included the Colombians (of course) and the Yardies (whom were connected to the Colombians). Colombians were the getting big in the city, but made the mistake of confronting Claude the way they did when he had reached Love's mysterious package. Well, the story goes on until he gets smacked with a ransom note. YES, YES, YES!! All his hard work has paid off! Now his objective is simple: KILL CATALINA. It all seems simple: 500 grand for the girl... or not? Remember the words that Catalina uttered (excuse me if I'm off a bit), "Did you come here to rescue Maria or to get me back?" Maria's life meant nothing to Claude. It was all about the money; just enough to kill that backstabbing ex-girlfriend of his. Maria simply played the bait in the transaction. Do you really believe Claude would pay $500,000 for Maria's life? But we will never really be sure if Maria was shot to death or not. If the shot had missed her, she would more than likely have let out a yelp. If the shot had hit her, she would be howling in pain. After the shot was fired, and no response was heard, we can assume that Claude had shot in her in head to finally shut her mouth. It is LOGICALLY the most reasonable conclusion we can come up with. GTA3 doesn't have evolutionary radio stations like SA did. If you get in your Kuruma first thing in the game, tune to Chatterbox, and just sit there, you'll eventually hear Maria going on about this new guy she met, etc. When obviously you haven't met her yet. Also, do not listen to radio stations because they do not make any sense. Or it could have been claude shot himself and maria was suprised and so she stopped talking all of a sudden. I've heard that audio something like 15 times recently, going through and testing the credit changes I made to LC. And just to make sure I don't make a complete fool of myself, I just loaded up END.mp3 from my GTA3 audio - no yelp. In fact, her voice fades out as she said $50.
