Phockz
I'm getting REALLY pissed off with this mission. No matter how many different things I try I am ALWAYS over the 6.30 mark. I dont understand how people can get under 5 minutes, let alone in the required time. Can someone please give me some strategies on which way to go with each checkpoint. I would like to try and finish it for myself before I SnP it... does anyone have a timeline of where you should be at key landmarks in the course? I mean, say, at 3.47 you should be at that really steep hill, etc, because that would help too. Thanks guys...
Bryce.
Try to stay on the most flat land you can, even if it means going a little out of your way, because the monster truck is unstable enuff as it is but once its on two wheels you are screwed. If you have the pc version, you could download GTASA Control Center and use the stop all movement and increase speed by 5% features.
pdescobar
Usually, there is a dirt road you can follow but I normally go almost straight at each checkpoint since the Monster climbs well and I'm used to off-roading. There are only one or two places near the end where I have to be cautious about flipping it. I always finish between 4:30 and 5:00 but I do it on the xbox version... BTW, what's your Driving Skill level? That could have an effect if it's fairly low.
gillies
Usually it takes me a couple of attempts to finish in less than 4:20, it seems like you only get a few less-than-optimal corners and no mistakes that stop the truck dead or roll it to complete the course under this time. To complete the course in less than 6:30 you can probably take a pretty easy speed, remember to go straight from one checkpoint to another, only follow paths or roads if the terrain around it is especially hostile - and when off the roads watch out for the rocks that only pop into view just as you're about to hit them (usually these will flip the truck and it will skid for some distance upside down before it stops or hits something else and you can get it upright again), and use the brake and four wheel steering together to turn the series of tight corners towards the end, but most of the other corners are easier to get around just using the brakes. I don't usually look at the clock much but I am always half way up the big hill near the dam at about 45 seconds, I think that is approaching the sixth checkpoint. Phockz
Bryceroni: Cool, I'll have a look for that control centre thing, I'm willing to do pretty much anything to finish this level... Escobar: My driving skill is nearly full Gillies: 4:20... jesus. i think the reason i'm so slow is becausme my comp doesn't have the optimum specs, and lags like sh*t because of it... thanks for all that guys, ill keep at it, but normally when i do the mission, i go at almost top speed, and usually only hit one thing, be it a rock, car, sign, etc, so im not sure whats wrong with it... or me :S. i usually get to the second marker by the 8 second mark just as a guide. around the 3:15 minute mark, im usually at checkpoint 15. grove_street_og
Maybe don't go so fast. The last time I did it, I took two tries. The first try, I just went pretty slow the whole time, and wound up with a time of 6:35 or something. The second time, I went top speed when the terrain between checkpoints was nice and flat, and slowed down quite a bit when there were turns or any kind of rough terrain. I expect that if you want a really good speed, you have to learn how to do the 4-wheel steering really well, but I found it pretty easy to at least get the required time. JAJ
Here's a Link to a site that has videos of the missions. I watched the Monster one a few times to see the route and get some ideas on how to beat the mission. Got 5:05 on my second try - I went in the water on the first try. http://www.stuckgamer.com/gui_gta_san_andreas_01.shtml Hope that it helps. anus
I don't know how I did it, but I finished it in five minutes. There are a lot of methods to do it. There's a cheating method and there's also a non-cheating method. Cheating method - Put in the streets empty cheat code, it might help you a bit. Or you could put in the flying cars cheat and fly through your checkpoints and back. Non-cheating method - Just go as fast as you can, use the four wheel drive function to skid off corners, as it skids extremely well with the 4WD. Or you could download a save file after Monster. Good luck.
Phockz
grove_street_og: yeah, I've usually been going flat out, so I'll try slowing down and see if i can do it that way. i always over steer with the 4 wheel drive and spin out, obviously costing me precious seconds... jaj: ill have a lok at the video and get back to you, thanks for the link... warlord: hahaha, yeah, i tried the flying cars cheat but: a) you have to be in contact, or fairly close to the ground in order to pass the checkpoint and b), its really f*cking hard to fly a monster truck, such a big and bulky vehicle was not designed for the air. Cheating-wise, i've even used the 'all cars have nitro' cheat, and that helped a bit, mind you steering was rendered impossible because of the break-neck speed i was going at XP. and as for downlading the file save, ive tried it, but for some reason, even though the save file says 'Monster', its starts a new game of SA, which I really dont want to do at this point... I have mentioned this problem in the save file thread itself. Again, thanks for the help everyone.
