Prylok
At first, hi all I'm new to the forum but not new to the SA, but i can't figure out one thing.... i looked up in the forum and also couldn't find the anwser.. Are there any limits of numbers of colors in carcols.dat? eg. I made custom white from RGB palette and added it as number 170 and the car in-game was red.. when I added this new color as number 15 or something it was good.. maybe there is a limit and it uses color number 17(which is red in carcols) instead of 170?? ArturP
I think that there is 126 colors.

Mr Killer
I don't think there is any sort of limitation on the colors a car spawns with, but it depends on if the car spawns quick or not. For example, if you make a car have so many colors and then you decide to test it out ingame, obviously you may have to wait a while to see the color you want. Prylok
I added only one color.. custom white which I put under number 170 and i went to pay n spray and its red.. when I put this custom color under lower number like 15, 30, 69, 127 - everything is ok... What do you mean by "put it under 170?" I'm pretty sure that the index numbers in the file are simply comments and the actual number the game uses internally comes from counting the list. Since the last one in the list is 126, the next one added should be 127 regardless of what you type for the comments. Assuming there aren't any limits, you could probably get 170 to work if you added 44 new entries, but there may in fact be a limit. Try searching for "carcols.dat" in the Editing Discussion forums. GTA3Freak-2001
I've noticed myself that after a certain amount of cutom colours the game will start to play up and you won't get the correct colour. I've had it start to happen at about the 144 mark so I'd say there is a kind of limit but its no defined number.

Yes i think this is true because I remember it was either JVT or someone else who was talking about how once you get past 140 the game starts to confuse colors. JVT does have a carcol mod by the way, support the man!
