bluejeans
What tools do I need, and how should I use them? I know there's a real car/places mod out there, but only a few of the place names have been replaced. I want to change all that I know (about 2 dozen). Demarest
With all due respect, you're going about it backwards. Allow me to elaborate. When I first got into modding GTA3 a few months after it had begun, I downloaded existing mods to try them out; get used to being able to mod the game. As I modded various map mods, I saw the instructions kept having me tinker with the same files with the same tools and so on for all the various ways to mod this and that. Then I used those same tools to start modding the game myself as by this point, I knew how. As I modded various things, it turned out that coding was my niche. No surprise considering I've been programming this and that for about 16 years now. If you don't know the first about modding and just dive right in, you're essentially setting your goal unrealistically high. Or to be more accurate, not taking the correct action steps to attain that goal. In other words, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Take it slow and start from the beginning. Oh and when you're talking about modding the game, be sure to specify what game you're talking about. For example, altering the text in any given game requires a different tool
