disco
Hey, I've been working on a design that I will eventually submit on Threadless.com. Pirates kick ass. Comments & suggestions please. Would you buy this if it were on a tshirt?
Squiddy
Really nice idea! I won't buy this on a t-shirt though, but I don't buy shirts like that in general, so I assume there are a lot of people who would. The only thing I don't like is the red of the upper leg, it doesn't fit the other colors. A brown won't do the same job I think, so it might be just me. But maybe it is a bit too vivid.
Squiddy
Yes, that's what I meant. I knew it's the blood, so I said a brown wouldn't create the same impression. Maybe just make it a bit more transparent, other than that it's great. Besides, what program did you use? disco
Oh right, i get you now. Yeh, the red just need to be a bit darker, and maybe desaturated a little. I rigged the mannequin in 3D Studio Max, with bones and stuff so I can move him as I like. I used the Brazil Toon plugin to render it. Then I did some touching up in Photoshop, clean some edges, add the red and stuff.
Alternative Child
That look's really ace, but there is something about the parot that I don't like. It's probably just me though. The red is fine, it's the best part, plus it stands out.
Guybrush Threepwood
Well hell, you know I love it and would surely buy a shirt like that. I like the red as it is, makes it perhaps slightly more obvious and somewhat easier to understand for stupid people. Cause you do not want to explain to people what your shirt means, cause when that happens you might aswel have been wearing a Limp Bizkit t-shirt. I hate Limp Bizkit. edit: to Alternative Child, the parrot's feet look weird. The shadow shouldn't go all the way over them, it makes them look weird. disco
thanks for comments thus far! yeh, i should sort out the parrots' legs, but also, the parrot looks suspiciously evil.
DiVaio
Looks pretty nice, the idea would come out better if you'd make the difference between the skin and the wood more obvious. maybe you could replace the wood above his left leg with bone, experiment around 'till you get the result you want. As a t-shirt design I think it's good, I like the joke and it looks tight as well.
Vanillainy
Tone down the red a bit maybe. And make the parrots feet a bit shorter. Two thumbs up.
muppetmaster
It's great although I suggest you sort out the human foot. Something about the colour and the shape just doesn't fit. Maybe it'd be better if both feet match.
Trows
If both feet matched, it would ruin the whole "wooden pirate with a man-peg-leg" image, which is damn cool. No dough this post will get questions and and maybe even some fighting.
disco
If both feet matched, it would ruin the whole "wooden pirate with a man-peg-leg" image, which is damn cool. i think muppet was talking about how the size of the feet should match more. i think it might look wierd cause you're looking at the human foot straight on, thus you can't really tell how long it is. I might try out and make it bigger(or the wooden foot smaller), and see if it looks better.

The other way around it shouldn't be any different. Flawless logic ahoy.
king surfer
Pirates rock. 'tis a fact. However one little niggle would be his left hand not being outlined with the darker brown. Just doesn't look right to me. Apart from that, excellent work.
Lynk
The colours are fine, I like the shape of the character too. I'd wear it.
Paco
It looks cool as hell, the colors work well, the mannequin, and a parrot! sh*t, if I could I'd buy it.
Rob.
I'd buy that anyday, in fact, i reckon you should make a sig out of it. Mad Skills nice one
muppetmaster
Now that I look at it, I don't think the shadow is a good idea. It should probably just be a drop shadow to the side of the pirate.
Spankee
I would buy it but if they print it make sure it is on the breast of the shirt not a huge picture in the middle.
Mr Killer
It's a great idea, although I wouldn't buy this on a T-shirt. I usually only go for the surf brands.
Technical Difficulty
I would buy it in a heartbeat. Make it into a t-shirt and I'll buy it. Very creative.
tagamaynila
I like the colors although i'd suggest a better pose. It looks rather stiff as it is just standing staright like that.
Reincarnated
If the colour of the shirt would be that green, I would buy it. Now, it depends on how big you make the model in comparison to the shirt. I like the straight stiff pose, rather than a articulated pose because it is more clean cut and straight forward. Most t-shirts are clogged up a bunch of stuff on them.
disco
well, i submitted it with the design big and central, but it won't nessicarilly be like that if it is chosen for print. when the submission passes, i'll comment on the alternative potition for the design. Polar
Like king surfer said his lefty should be outlined, and the shadow on the peg leg could be lighter. Looks great though, I'd wear it.
disco
hey, it's finally been accepted. even if you don't like it, please vote 'i'd buy it' and 5, or else! http://www.threadless.com/submission/62393/Mannequin_Pirate
