MP5
Alright, so I'm doing a little bit of research on Liberty City, and I would like anyone knowledgeable enough of LCS to help answer a few questions on changes in the city circa 1998. What is the construction status of Porter Tunnel? Is the Staunton exit of the tunnel really connected to an old, unused subway station? Was the explosives used in the mission "Bringing the House Down" planted in the tunnel's Staunton exit? What was the role of the old subway station in the mission? Is the Love Media building (Future home of Donald Love in Bedford Point) under construction? Was there a larger cemetery beside the Bedford Point church? (As I have known, the LCS website revealed that there was an advocacy group demanding that the cemetery be given up and a standard building be built over it). Where are the city's ferry stops? What initially prevented the player from crossing to Staunton from Portland, early in the game? Is it possible to cross the unfinished Callahan Bridge by car? Is the city's subway system still connected to all three islands? Is the Hepburn Heights housing complex under construction? What was the reason cited for the Shoreside Lift Bridge's temporary closure in LCS? Thanks. Edited December 12, 2005 by MP5
CarpetDweller
What is the construction status of Porter Tunnel? The tunnel from Portland is not yet constructed. The Portland entrance is the Ferry depot. The only fully functional part of the tunnel runs from the entrance near the airport to Wichita Gardens. So it really is only used to travel around Shoreside Vale. You use a little bit more of the part running to Staunton while it is still under construction, but this is only for one mission. The entrance by the Staunton Hospital is under construction. Is the Staunton exit of the tunnel really connected to an old, unused subway station? There is an unused subway used in one mission. This is only connected to the tunnel during that mission and at all other times the tunnel just ends looking out into blue hell. You're not supposed to have access outside of the mission anyway. This isn't connected to the entrance (which is blocked), it is hidden behind a blue fence that blocks off the way to staunton inside the shoreside tunnel. Was the explosives used in the mission "Bringing down the House" planted in the tunnel's Staunton exit? What was the role of the old subway station in the mission? They are planted in the subway station. Is the Love Media building (Future home of Donald Love in Bedford Point) under construction? Not that you'd notice. None of DL's missions are given from the GTA3 Love Media building, but at least at ground level both buildings are present and complete. When Toni goes to the new building in a couple of cutscenes he is shown emerging on a rooftop building site, although you never see this in the normal game. Was there a larger cemetery beside the Bedford Point church? (As I have known, the LCS website revealed that there was an advocacy group demanding that the cemetery be given up and a standard building be built over it). Yes. As the game progresses more graves appear with the names of those you kill. Where are the city's ferry stops? At the GTA3 Portland entrance to the porter tunnel and Phil Cassidy's. What initially prevented the player from crossing to Staunton from Portland, early in the game? The Ferry workers are on strike and the Callahan bridge is still under construction. The bridge is never finished but a convenient ramp appears in both directions so you can jump it once Staunton becomes accessible. Is it possible to cross the unfinished Callahan Bridge by car? As far as I know, ths is only possible once Staunton is available. After that you can jump the tiny gap using any vehicle. •Is the city's subway system still connected to all three islands? I'm pretty sure it is although I haven't used it for a while. Is the Hepburn Heights housing complex under construction? Yes What was the reason cited for the Shoreside Lift Bridge's temporary closure in LCS? Once the ferry strikes end some protesters are still not satisfied and move their protest to the bridge. They stop once the new mayor is elected and promises "There will always be a ferry service in Liberty City." MP5
I believe this should cover all that is needed. Thanks a bunch. If you're curious as to where this info is all going, it's for the Wikipedia article on the city. Cheers.
tommyalma
Was there a larger cemetery beside the Bedford Point church? (As I have known, the LCS website revealed that there was an advocacy group demanding that the cemetery be given up and a standard building be built over it).Yes. As the game progresses more graves appear with the names of those you kill. well ... at least those whose bodies get buried. The Donald Love corpse missions are the most tasteless thing GTA has had yet.
Lord Molo
I got a couple of questions of my own, What is the status of "Ghost Town" from GTA3 in LCS? What is the status of the shoreside vale tunnels (that were sealed of in GTA3) in LCS?
Ben Fleming
The Ghost Town from GTA3 is no longer in LCS, since there is no need for it. As for the SSV tunnel, it goes a bit deeper (so you can access the observatory), but it is cut off AGAIN, so you still can't access the mainland. Totally typical of R*
Lord Molo
Well, I guess someone had to bring up the infamous ghost town. I think it would have been fun to leave it in there as an easter egg.
MI7
Well, I guess someone had to bring up the infamous ghost town. I think it would have been fun to leave it in there as an easter egg. It would have been slightly pointless and redundant though. I mean, no one would have been able to reach it had it not been for edison's Cheat Device, as there is no planes or accessible helicopters, and the super jump isn't a built-in part of the game. Get Connected.
GTA3Freak-2001
Not to mention it would be a waste of space since in GTA3 it was used the the intro of the game and LCS obviously has no use for that.
