Such a shame, I successfully installed GTA1 on my PC but the gameplay was so dodgy that I couldn't play...

The gameplay or the performance? It does have some issues with modern computers.

Well, the performance. I mean I start the game, sound works alright but it isn't running with a smooth frame rate.

It's definitely an issue with modern PCs, but I heard you can change the performance settings to be compatible with Win98 for older games. I don't know how to do it though...

Some games are better to leave in memories and GTA 1 and 2 are that kind of games. smile.gif

Did you try this?

Click start button > run > dxdiag > sound > change sound acceleration to basic or none. Remember to change it back for other games. Push F8 to turn the frame rate limiter on or off. Push F11 to change resolution.

Yeah GTA II rules.

Kinda Off Topic- Interesting that I've been a GTA fan since 1998, and I've never played London 69.

Well that changed today. smile.gif

I actually bought it along with GTA 1, and II, but never bothered playing it because I thought you had to do all of that "Put in the disc, take it etc" crap like the instructions say.

Well for interest's sake I put it in my PS2, and didn't need to to that stuff. I could've played it years ago if I knew that. lol.gif

I did play GTA a couple weeks ago. I much preffer GTa2 though way way way better. I cant stand the one shot and your dead thing in GTA. In other arcade games its fine but for a game like GTA I dont like it. (There maybe a mod out thier that can make you take more hits but havent bothred to search for them)

I have not played the GTA games, so I thought I play the original first.

I got the original game (not the one from R* site) from eBay,

I feel that it is going to take me ages to complete it.

I brought the CD-ROM version of GTA when it first came out and it runs well on my system (Intel Core Quad Q6600).

i still play it from time to time. gta 2 is my favorite gta though. but the first and second gta's are so freaking hard....not because of the view and "crappy gameplay" but because when someone shoots at you, they get their aim right. and car destruction was more realistic...in gta 1 there was no smoke to tell you its bust. it just made a rickety sound and it blew up. awesome game, wasnt so pretentious back then....

I played it a few days ago. But I really hate it that it goes either way too slow or too fast.
