Zen Micro not working

OK, I dropped my MP3 Player, as its supposed to be a good MP3 Player I wasnt to worried about it braking. I have dropped it before and it got stuck but nothing taking out the battery and putting it back in couldnt fix.

Ao anyway, it dropped out of my pocket and onto the hard floor. It was fine, just more scratches.

Five minutes later I pick up my cat, I sat down and then it broke. Either the cats weight was on it or it just decided to piss me off.

Well now whenever I turn it on it starts the loading process and then just stops when the Creative logo comes up. Then the backlight goes off (which its not supposed to do) and thats it. Nothing happens, I cant turn it off, i have to take out the battery and put it back in.

Anyone got any ideas on trying to fix it? Or has anyone else had this sorta problem? I dont wanna open it up or anything because then ill break the warranty.

Think i should just get a new one? Ive only had this for 4 months and its already fu**ed.

My sister had one, she dropped it on the floor in our house, which is marble. So she went to the store, got a refund. Then bought a different one. I think it was Rio or something.

The Micro is Hard Drive based, so you might have broken that by dropping it or with your cat. It isn't actually a fault of the player, so don't replace it with something else unless you find something seriously wrong with it you dont like.

However, concerning it being broken, its been 4 months, so unless you got a product replacement plan, you can't return it through retail. You could try sending it back to Creative and hoping they don't notice if the HD is broken.

It sounds like you've damaged something on the harddisk. And most likely through droppping it. I had this problem with a Zen touch. Creative replaced it free of charge. Only shipping costs.

Try going into rescue mode on the player, and seeing what options there is.

Have you tried starting it up with the charger plugged into it?

Yes I have tried that but it does exactly the same except that the light around the MP3 player is doing what it should do when its charging (dimmering and then getting brighter).

Im going to see if I can get it replaced or fixed. I more want it fixed because I dont want to have to reput all the songs that were on there.

I can access Recovery Mode, I tried doing "disc Scan" or whatever it was called. It might of stopped because it didnt seem to be doing anything so i took out the battery.

Also when I turn it on, after the screen light turns off I can hear a repeating noise from the player for about a minute and then it stops.

Any other ideas??

The noise you hear is probably the hard drive scratching itself or something similar. As with any hard drive player like an iPod or many Creative players(like yours), dropping them can permanently damage the HD. You'll need to send it back to Creative.

Alright then, thanks for the help.
