Importing models into SA

Great tutorial

 

But im having some problems

 

My model shows in the game but dont have a colison file

Hmmz, you should try to re-export your col (be sure you converted it to editable mesh!). When the same happens, probably the pivot point is not the same as in the dff, so the collision has an other offset than the dff....then you should reset the pivot (right to the rainbow, than click effect pivot only and reset the coördinates to 0,0,0).

I've got one problem now. I use 3DS Max 8, and when I set your scripts in my scripts folder and when I want to use the dff script (Maxscript --> Run script), I get a runtime error and the program can't open the script. Maybe you know the problem? The strange thing is that the .col script works well.. Edited by Blackfuse

19000 is a good starting ID, its roughly the first empty one in the game. And I'll just note for anyone who hasn't read around, you can only add 5 map objects.

okay now i did everything but now my game crashes and i made a weapon model and i replaced the colt 45 txd and the dff but i have the .col.

i dont know what to do? and i did it for vice.

ok ive got some problems here, well its to do with 3ds max. in the kams scripts  the one ive got (the link you provided) it doesent have col_io_2b i get like GTA_COL_IO.mse and there is no surface perameteres in there so im confused and this maked me wat to die  die.gif  suicidal.gif

 

 

you need to add a suface material to your col and the surface parameters are in the material editor

 

also if its for sa you need to set "brightness/part:" to -1

When i want to export the dff of the box it say :''Unknown property : ''Diffuse'' is undefinied'' ! Can you help?

Have you textured your model? The reason I ask is that the "diffuse" channel is where you specify your material

Thank you so much! Now I got it:) I just learned how to texture things in 3dsMax! But i got a question. I completed everything, so, two things: 1. Where can I find my model now in GTA SA? 2.

And don't forget to rename the colfile to your IDE when you havn't done it yet.
What does that mean, sry, I don't get it!

I get it in Vice City, so it was so so tiring.... dozingoff.gif Well, the tutorial on this page is so good, so i learned it, and i think its unfinished. Some details were forgotten. bbq.gif So i would like to ask the autor ( thanks a lot for this one) a good finished one, with all the details, because people like me, doesn´t know how to model right, don´t know if use surfaces, meshes...things like that.

So maybe its to ask so much, but, a VIDEO TUTORIAL of modeling a cube and then insert it in the map would be the perfect tutorial. And so many questions will be answered.

i have imported a model into SA with a working Collision and .txd file, the model shows up perfectly fine in the mapviewer, but when placed the building is not there, however the collision file is.

 

my exporting tools from 3ds are newer than those you have provided so what may be my problem?

Hey guys, I've been away for a long time and want to come back but I'm starting to get f*cking pissed allready...

 

I know (or knew) how to import models into SA, I've done it multiple times but now when I add my stuff the game crashes at about 20% loading. The model shows up in the MEd and I tried a collision file made in Coll Editor 2 and one exported from 3D Max but that didn't help... any ideas? anyone?
