Reeno
Hi, everytime when someone shoots at me (no matter if I'm in a car or outside) the game freezes/crashes. The same occurs if I drive through Windows or paper boxes (wooden boxes work). This is annoying cause I'm stuck on a mission where the triads always shoot at me and GTA3 always crashes. I've got Win98 SE, an AMD Duron 800 and 265 MB RAM. My GTA is version 1.1. Anything else is working fine, at least I haven't found any errors. Thanks for helping and please excuse my bad english . ilusha2
Greetings. I'm having the same problem. Win98SE Celeron 2.5 Ghz 512MB(64 devoted to video) Integrated video I have Windows 98SE now, but before I installed Win98SE, I had WinXP and the same problem occurred as well. I have tried using "GTA Advanced Options", but even when I set the distance on "0"(very high performance), the game still froze when I was shot at. I have tried everything. I have GTA3 on its own partition, a separate partition for Virtual Memory, I have defragged, etc.
Reeno
I solved the problem by varying the sound driver.
ilusha2
To Reeno: Do you mean that you changed the audio hardware in options>audio options>audio hardware?
Mr Killer
To Reeno: Do you mean that you changed the audio hardware in options>audio options>audio hardware? I think he meant he updated his sound card's drivers which can be done to all sound cards. Just look at what brand your sound card is and go to the website, then download the necessary drivers.
