ERTBen Posted November 16, 2005 Share Posted November 16, 2005 Every time I go through the final mission, the Exchange, once I reach a certain point on the dam the Cartel shoot Maria and the helicopter flies away, then I fail the mission. I find a good strategy is to start the mission strapped with armor; that won't get taken away. As soon as you kill the Cartels and exit the mansion, the helicopter starts towards the dam, take a left (going away from it), and follow the road up the hill. Take the road off to your left that runs behind the strip of mansions, and go into the last backyard entrance. Get out of the car, and walk over to the hill on the eastern side of the backyard, and from there, jump onto the roof (you'll have to sprint + jump to do this). Follow the roof to the other side and you'll find a bazooka with three missiles. Now you're ready to do the mission. It's best to recognize where and how to get this before you start 'The Exchange'. Get back in the car, back onto the road, and take the left up ahead, and that road should lead to the Cochrane Dam entrance which will be off to your right. Blast the two Cartel cars at the entrance, and collect their AK-47s. Repeat with the second barricade, and then gun through the cartel one by one from afar. Do NOT get close; there are too many of them to take them on in closed quarters. Make it a point to pick up an M-16 from one of the Cartels will drop at the dam; you'll need it to destroy the flatbed. Now, with your only rocket left, aim it well and destroy the chopper. But it's not over yet. You have about six more Cartel to kill, and they're not pushovers. If you kill them form a distance, or use cover, you should be fine. ERTBen Posted November 16, 2005 Author Share Posted November 16, 2005 No, I have plenty of time left- it seems that the problem is when I cross a line that runs between the base of the second guard post on the dam (with the long stairway) and the shipping containers across from them, Maria gets shot, I get a cut scene, they shoot her, then I fail the mission. Is there something I have to do to get around this, like a special place I have to walk? I've tried shooting the helicopter from everywhere I can walk, and nothing happens. I'm getting frustrated. Have you by any chance used the "peds fight each other" cheat? I'm not sure if that's the exact name for it, but it's something like that. My opinion is you're screwed and will have to go back to before that cheat was active. Sadly, if the ped riot cheat is your problem in this case, your predicament is irreversible. Sorry, seems like you'll have to start a new game, mate.
