This guy named Brian Provinciano is making an 8 bit GTA III. It looks pretty good so far, but apperantly he's only completly with Portland.

 

If this is old news, forgive me.

 

Edit: Here are some screens. I guess he had to (or wanted to) change some names like Luigi's.

okay..... its cool that this guy is making the game, but for what reason? it looks worse than the original GTA on the PS1. i dunno, some people i guess will like the feeling of playing old school GTA, just not me.

I remember seeing this a while back. I think it's cool, what with growing up with the NES and all. Some people just like that sort of stuff.

Exactly, plus with the format it will give it an almost nostalgiac feel even though the game was never released as so.

 

I'd be lying if I said I didn't still play my NES. Turbo Racing y'all.

They've done this sort of thing before. I remember Resident Evil 1 NES. BTW, that article of Grand theftendo was really sweet.
