Cardiacs are a band of pure genius. Anyone a fan? Anyone ever even heard of them at all??

 

This page has a couple of songs of theirs you can get, the best of which being Fiery Gun Hand and Day Is Gone. (The very bottom link is a side-project band and not actually a Cardiacs song as such.)

 

I just went to see Cardiacs on Friday, and they were absolutely awesome, unlike anyone else on this earth. Insane, yet amazingly gifted. To describe their musical sound would be impossible, just be sure to listen to a few songs from that page and tell me what you think. I've grown to love them in the space of about 4 months.

Just listened to 'Fiery Gun Hand', and loved it. I'm not a big fan of the vocals, but I'll get used to them.

And the instrumental part is just awesome, very abstract.

 

Gonna check the other tracks tomorrow.

I just listened to it all, got to fiery gun hand and thought it was decent, but preceded to think it all seemed a bit of a mess. Maybe itll take another listen, Ill check it tomorrow. Definitely different tho.

I listened to Fiery Gun Hand and, well, I wasn't impressed. At all.

 

EDIT: Just listened to Day is Gone. Much better.

The songs on that page aren't even their best songs, just a selection of one track from each album. You really need to hear 'Dirty Boy', this song is an all-time classic. I fell in love with the band largely off the back of that song.

musical genius? perhaps not. although it was intriguing, i couldnt hear any of the actual music. It was so compounded with effects and i prefer singing over fast talking. It's original and its attention getting, i just dont like it. did i hear a theremin in there?

He definitely sings mate, I don't understand that comment. As for the instrument, they have been know to use something called a 'television organ' which they apparantly invented by accident. As you do. That webpage doesn't really have the best selection of their songs in my opinion. The songs you really need to hear are:

Tarred And Feathered

Fairy Mary Mag

Bellyeye

Buds And Spawn.

 

Those are probably my favourite Cardiacs songs. I couldn't suggest how you might go about acquiring these individuals songs though of course.

EDIT: Just listened to them and they were pretty rockin'. Which means that you're pretty rockin' as well. Wait, what? That's not right, that's not right at all. f*ck.

The vocals are some of the best bits I reckon. Especially when the whole band is singing together anyway. Some of their songs have a certain Bohemian Rhapsody quality about them.

The actual music is quality. When the band all sing at the same time it sounds really good, but, as i have already told you, the lead singer's voice gives me a headache...
