tuff_luv_capo
Well congrats on making the topic but it's not really a secret or anything special nowadays. Welcome to age 16-18. Good luck, and the dealerships will be waiting when you're ready to sell it.

That guy.
well when I turn 16 I will probably save up for a car and make it a tuner and race it and my local drag racing course. Anyone else here like tuners? You cant just say you plan on making a tuner. What kind of car do you plan on getting, and what do you plan on doing to it? You totally realise that Kompressor is just a supercharger, and it's what Mercedes call it? IM RACING DA XJ40 WHEN IM 16 TOO!!
JJHW
Well sort of Cran... Yeah, they call it that because a Supercharger is really an Air Compressor, whether it the belt/engine driven kind, or a Turbocharger... So, they could use it for Supercharger or Turbocharger, as both are technically Superchargers... But yeah, they mean 'Supercharger' on the SLK at least . +FF7F24+

Concept.
I bet he just finished watching the whole FNF series and then signed up on every street racing forum he could find and asked "Hey where do you guys race I wanna come watch". The next FNF will be in Tokyo and will be based around drifting, so now there's going to be a sudden wave of 'drifters' saying how they're going to buy an ae86. BulletProofPatriot
When I get a car, I'll tune it - But none of that "LOLMYBODYKITZ" crap. I plan for the exterior to be completely stock, maybe with a nice sound set up, and under the bonnet a K&N Induction Kit, Superchip and maybe a nice Magnex exhaust. I'm pretty much in love with BMW's. I like the old 6 series, I think I may get one of those. I don't really plan on getting insurance, I know its a pretty stupid idea, but there is no way I'll put up with a 3 cylinder 1.0 Corsa.

Remember, horsepower costs a lot of money, and if you see it cheap, dont go for it. A short drive pulley, cold air intake, are a good way to start, and maybe some nos if you got the money. Mufflers dont add any hp or tourque, it makes it sound like it does, but a full exhaust system, which can go for around $1000, will add some tourque, which can increase that 1/4 mile time. Start with intakes and go from there. - Zoidberg!
Rocketkiller
The best superchips do is make automatic trannies shift better. Unless you want to run on higher octane fuel, then it tunes the motor for that fuel.

Am i the only one to consider that making your car Show is not tuning? ----------------------------------- @BPP: An old 6 series huh. Then, forgot about the sounsystem and some stupid muffler. Professional preparation all the way, otherwise you'll kill your engine. AC schnitzer exhaust, german parts, quality. These cars are fragile, consider it. 3rd from the left. M635. Schnitzer engine preparation kit. 340hp (from a 3.5 litre). Race. Signature soon.

Sure, maybe not a large difference, but its there. I'm not going all out Fast and f*cking Furious, only some slight modifications for something to do. I'm pretty sure a 1986 BMW 635Ci is a pretty f*cking fast car anyway, so I don't need to put huge bodykits and spoilers and lovely shiney wheels with less tire than my BMX. I only want a few modifications to get that 80's lag a bit more perky. BulletProofPatriot
Yeah, thats why I mentioned the "80's lag". I've noticed quite a few 80's cars seem to have a laggy tendancy. Well, my XR2, my friends XR3i and a BMW 320. anyway.
Trueno_Drifter86
I like tuners ever since I saw that friggin F&F (typical riceboy)I like them the most out all the types of vehicle. It's just kinda neat to me how you can take $1500 doller crap box and make it into a beast even though it would take a lot of work and 5-20 grand depending on how far you wana go. Some time in the future I want toget a truck or something with awd so i can go off roading and such but right now im looking to get anything thats cheap and will run long enough so it will make it to my house. My parents said I could get it as long as it's not to much of an eye sore and I pay for everything (Car,Towing if necessary, Insurence for the day if it's not etc) So does anybody know anything about 84 Nissan Pulser Turbos?TRUENO Edited November 27, 2005 by Trueno_Drifter86
Touge
So does anybody know anything about 84 Nissan Pulser Turbos? TRUENO Would that be the E15-ET-powered models? If so, they're pretty wicked cars. There's a couple of them in Australia running in the 11's and 12's. Still street cars too although they were running slicks for the runs. Still running the 1500cc turbo engine (albeit with upgraded internals etc.)

Only thing I don't like though, is you spend 2/3 of what the cars worth on mods, and depending on what sorta car it is, You'll end up getting less back for it. And besides, could you guys define a 'tuner' car? I mean, as a general example you'd call something like a VTEC Civic a tuner car, mainly because they're cheap, lightweight and have a massive aftermarket following. But, what stops a particular make or model of vehicle from being a 'tuner' car? As far as spending 20k on a Civic and making it somewhat of a monster, you could pretty much just as easily do the same thing to something less 'tuner-esque', like an E30 3-series or something. I guess this also depends on what you call 'tuning' too. Some people take a little econocar with lowered suspension, 6-inch exhaust tip, massive wheels bodykit etc. and call it 'tuned'. Then there are people who focus on drivability, handling, performance and/or refinement. Enhancing the overral package. It basically comes down to what you're into.
