Godisnowhere
Hey all, first post. Sadly enough it is due to a problem. I've played SA long enough to beat it. Since I beat it, I figured I would add some things. I started with Spookys Speedo mod, the direct hook version. Launched the game, and now all the Peds and Carl are the same color as the sky, and change as the sky changes. Makes it kinda hard to tell people apart. What files would I replace to get things back to normal. I'd rather not reinstall, but I guess if it's the only way... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mr Killer
Retrace your steps. Whatever mod you have installed to your San Andreas, remove it. Or if none of that works, then you're going to have to reinstall.
Godisnowhere
The only mod I added was the Speedometer. I can't find a reason why that would mess with the ped skins and so forth. There's no way I can just copy the .dff files over, and see if replacing them fixes it, and if so, which files would I replace? I have no problem reinstalling. I can always back up my save games and what not. I just want that to be a last resort. Thanks for the reply.
BigBadBob
did you have to add the .dff (or .txd not familiar with that mod) files to a .img file with IMGTool? If so, then extracting the original (or working from a previous mod) files from the .img file and add them back to the modded one. Then rebuild archive and see if it works. What i mean is, if you had a perfectly working game, then added something, take the original files and put them back in. Remember, to back up every file that is moddified by a mod. I have a full copy of a stock GTA SA folder backed up. Plus anytime i make a change to a file (adding cars for instance) i will make a backup of the gta3.img, and any files modifed in the Data folder. That way, if i screwed something up i can cope the previous working files back and try again. Off topic part: If you add a car and can't get SA to start, make sure you didn't accidentally add a blank line to the handling.cfg file. Took me a while to catch that one. Godisnowhere
Didn't add any imgs or dffs. With the Direct hook version, you just open Spookys program, and set the settings and hit load, and it loads the game. With the Proxy version, it inserts a dll into the main SA directory. I guess it had to add something somewhere though. I guess I'll just reinstall when I get bored. Thanks for the help though.
BigBadBob
oh, it's a trainer like mod? Have you tried starting the game from the .exe or shortcut (without the trainer)? It may be something to do with that trainer/mod.
GTA3Freak-2001
The speedo replaces no files so it technically couldn't cause the problem you have. From the screenshot you've got a common problem that usually all people with FX5200 and 9200 video cards have that has no relation to moding the game. Am I right in saying you have either of those cards? Is there any chance that you've prehaps changed drivers for your video card between using this speedo? The see-through peds are a result of a problem with certain drivers so that's why I am asking.
BigBadBob
what's this program called, or where can i get it? Sounds interesting. One question though: Does it do anything that could be caught by PunkBuster as a cheat or hack? I've heard of people running trainers for off-line games and getting banned by PB for something not related to the game at all. I'm in a competing BF2 clan, so i don't want to get banned for something silly like that.
Godisnowhere
It's not a trainer. All it does is add analog speedometer gauge, with a digital read out for speed, and one for what gear you're in. The mod itself can be found at: GTA Garage Speedo, as well as screen shots. My graphics card is an ATI Radeon 8500. The only issue I had was the heat waves, and that was fixed a long time ago by updating to the newest driver. No changes were made before or after installing the mod. I had played SA several times throughout that day before the mod, and it was fine. The first launch after the mod I have what you see. As far as I know, the Direct hook version only works if you have the speedo.exe open, and launch the game through that. I'm not sure if it changed anything in the folders though. Who knows, but yeah, the Speedometer is sweet. I want to get this fixed, and try the hi def map and radar too. It looks sexy.
