Concept.
I can get into cars from my garage fine, and some parked and cars that I jack, but alot of the time if I jack a car my game will freeze once I get in there. The whole computer will just lock up and I have to restart. Anyone have a solution?
iRon(V)oNKeY
I have the EXACT same problem. This is a v1.0 retail copy. It's just annoying. Intermittently at the WORST time, when I get into a car the whole screen freezes with a continous beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep sound, and I have to COLD BOOT my computer. All my drivers are the lastest. DXDiag: http://members.shaw.ca/the_punisher/DxDiag.txt
Concept.
All mine are the latest too. I don't get the "beeeeeeeeep" noise, but my "num lock" key turns off, which is wierd, and the only way to turn it off is to press the 'restart' key. It was working 2 days ago, and then I accedently restarted my computer by knocking out the power point when it was on (don't ask) and then since then it's been doing this. It's been like this for 2 months, and all my other games work perfectly fine. Anyone else exp'ing these same problems? these are the cutest smilies ever lol. Concept.
Damn, 2 months? I hope it isn't the same for me. This is stupid, it worked fine before. I get in the car, and just as the radio is about to start the computer locks up. Would it have something to do with my soundcard? How come the radio works fine sometimes and not others? Concept.
Well that's not the problem. I tried getting into a tractor and the pc froze, and tractor's don't have radio.
BigBadBob
sounds like maybe a file was corrupted in the SA folder when the computer was shut off. Was the game playing at the time? Try starting a new game and see if it still happens (if you haven't already) if so, it may be the save file corrupted. If it still does it, backup the GTA SA folder in My Documents. Uninstall SA, reinstall SA. Try a new game and see if it still does it. If it doesn't, then put the save files in the my documents folder and try it. If you istalled a mod and this started happenening, then rename the modded files, and put the backups back in. And try again.
iRon(V)oNKeY
Thc for the help Bob. I've tried playing a whole new fresh start, and also reinstalled the entire game twice. The game still crashes randomly when I enter vehicles. It doesn't happen to all vehicles, just sometimes. I found a simlar thread here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=194153 R* should issue a patch, it's been forever. Companies like Epic/ Atari update their products alot and it gets better each time (ie the Unreal series). That's what you call support.
BigBadBob
might try lowering the FX quality in the options, maybe view distance and see if it still happens. Try it on both a saved game, and a new game. Are you running a trainer or anything. If you have any programs running in the background, try shutting down any processes that aren't needed. Also, might try running a defrag. It sounds like it's something to do with the game itself though. When you installed, did you do a complete install? Or choose custom and unselect the radio (or whatever the option was)? Are your controls set to default? If not, you might try setting them as default. Concept.
While I was on on my 12 hour ban, I had a thought. Why not do a system restore to the day before it stopped working? So, I did that... AND NOW IT WORKS.
