RedMorris
Has anyone found a use for a TwentyFourSeven at all, other than the courier mission one in LS. Seems like they were meant to be somewhere you could buy food from but didn't put it in.
Double_Deagle
Appearently, have you ever seen a city WITHOUT a super market???? Even if you can't walk inside ingame, I'm pretty sure Carl's mom went there every thursday to buy cok-o-pops and stuff...

Double_Deagle
They're for getting your health back up by using the machines. Health, hhmmmm.... Who needs health???? OK, maybe a reason they're there, but even if that wasn't the case... The city would seem pretty incomplete without supermarkets...

Mxyzptlk
24/7 is there to spoof 7/11s and the convenient mart culture of America in the 90s. Other than that, their main use in the game is to provide food so you can restore health, or energy for working out at the gym. And to showcase the Arcade mini games. Really????? And why are you always so pissed??? I know, it's bad times in France right now, but I ain't capable for that, so don't freak out and try to act like a regular human being. All that "dumbass", "STFU" "GTFO" and "Twit" you're spitting doesn't make a 12-year-old look much more grown up... So just chill, smoke some ganja and let time pass by. I ain't scared of you or anything, since to me you're just some dude hacking sh*t on a keyboard, so why should I bother????? Can't we all get along? We used to be friends! Raindancer
I heard that the 24/7 shops were put into SA for robberies (like in Vice) but was removed at the last moment and now all thats left is the shops. I could be wrong, but i read that somewhere sometime ago.

I never insulted you, that's a lie... i was just asking you a question..... And for the "Can't we all get along.." part: It was a song text, but came in handy to the situation!!! Ontopic: I just realized that there's any kind of vehicle at every single shop. Maybe it was by chance, but somehow , whenever I went to a store (not for health though) there was a bike or a crappy car or motorbike right next to it... They exist so you can steal the customers' rides... Doesn't make sense, eh???
Concept.
Wait a minute, you wanna tell me, you run to a supermarket when your health is low???? Really????? Yes. Have you ever played San Andreas? To get your health up, you eat. You can eat by using the food/drink machines. These food/drink machines are found in the Supermarket and other places. So, in theory; If you want to get your health back up you go into the Supermarket and use the food machine.
The Harwood Butcher
Before the game was released it was said that you can buy gum and cigerettes in the 24/7 stores, but they were removed prior to release. Unfortunatly it was removed completly (or it hasen't been discovered yet) from the game so it can't be activated with a cheat device.
VC Hacker
Every 24/7 contains a Sprunk machine, a snack machine and arcade games: Duality and They Crawl from Uranus(although it says Go Go Space Monkey). You can't buy anything from the store itself, just from the machines, which is unrealistic.
SAPD
I also wonder why the 24/7 stores were there in the first place. And The Harwood Butcher how did you know that, because it would of been cool If you can actually buy food or gum even cigerettes. Also have you guys notice the big pen in Los Santos is always close or am i mistaken to some other club?
The Harwood Butcher
It was in different magazines, and amazingly I still have some of the scans from when I was following news before the game was released. This was scanned from PSM after they did their play test. The entire page was close to 300 kb so I cut out the picture, but there you go. Now you only see peds and gangmembers chew gum, like when you're doing the lowrider challenge and you see one of them chewing while you're making a wager. I'm pretty sure there was a picture of CJ with a cigerette in his mouth or at least something saying you'd be able to smoke in an article somewhere but I don't feel like looking for it now, plus like I said I don't have all my scans from back then. Hurricane5
The overall truth about the 24/7's is not about bubble gum, cigarettes, or for a twinkie. As Raindancer stated, they were originally put there for the purpose of robbing. Much like the robbing of stores in Vice City. Gum, cigarettes, and snacks may have easily been a hairbrained idea by one of the team, and might have been implemented then removed at a later time, pre-production, but it was not the purpose. If you remember correctly, there is a gas/petrol station in Vice City. The only obvious feature of this station is the exploding pumps. Always made for a good shootout location. Although it probably is the case, I dont think they took out the store robberies part. I think they just left it out so that they could put home invasions in. And then they probably just put the 24/7 for more realistic gameplay. But that is just my idea on it. And also they have some gas stations in SA that explode like that too. Have you ever heard the term "HAM-Cheat"??? Don't you go to a burger shot or pizza crap store for food??? Ermm, and yes I actually have played SA yet. Judging by your avatar, I would say you got the PC version and ooops, I played it before you even had it... Don't act a god damn fool, why are some of the guys around here always so harsh??? And doesn't anyone except me think, that a city without supermarkets would appear less authentic??? I got two words for you, pal... JACK and SHIT... and Jack left town... KollarGTAMF
uuuh...it definately doesn't detract from the game.. I like having places to go and do and see... I play my own games in my head while i play SA and love the opportunity to go inside places once in a while
8MILE
In one of the earliest issues of OPS2M there was a pic of the 24/7 with cJ in front of it with a cig in his mouth and the text was quote'Maybe You can buy cigarretes and beer and THE SUN(newspaper)will go mad if thats a bottle of lemon hooch

spaceeinstein
I do not believe that robbing stores was ever a feature in San Andreas, even in the beta. You can constantly rob a store by exiting and entering the interior so you can rake up cheap cash. So robbing stores would have been thrown out the window when the interior system was invented. The 24/7s are like the casinos of Las Venturas, except you can't enter those. Edited November 22, 2005 by spaceeinstein
