Sillyhed2000
Civilization 4 is like, sexy. Aren't they all? But anyway. It's been a while since I've played a Civ game, so I've got a singleplayer game in progress but really wanna play multiplayer. I was wondering if there's any peeps around here who're interested in a GTAF game? Also feel free to discuss the game here.
E.A.B.
I got Civilization III and all its expansion packs (but I lost The Conquest Expansion, which was the best ). The games great. Love it, it gets very addictive. I like playing over the internet with it. Really liked the WW2 scenarion, never passed it though. Post screen shots or links. JP Speed
I've never played Civilization IV, but I've played a couple of the Age of Empires series. Is it anything like that or am I totally off?
Rayo Puño
I've never played Civilization IV, but I've played a couple of the Age of Empires series. Is it anything like that or am I totally off? well it's kind of similar. but not really. aoe is constant action, wheras civ is turn based, you can move a certain amount per turn, etc. civ is more based on building a nation from the ground up, along with finding new technologies, etc. aoe is more building a nation and fighting off other nations. Sillyhed2000
Sounds sweet. Even if you're not practiced up, feel free to have a game. As of thursday next week I'll be free from the tyranny of school, assignments and studying which is why it's taken me so long to reply to my own topic. Rest assured, the Spanish empire will crush you all one day.
CrazyDude
I just got this game. I started playing at 6 last night. I played until 5 that morning. It's so damn addictive. I love it. I tried being Gahndi, so I was very peacful and didn't fight with any one. I was doing great because I had so much more technolgoy than everyone else. Then greece came in and f*cked it all up. Started fight me and stuff. Plus I really hate turned based. Besides that though it's awesome.
AlianAnt
Iv been hearing alot about Civ4. Problem is, its turn based. Im a little reluctant since Im all out action, but the ammount of postive feedback on this game keeps sucking my in. How does the turn based system work? Do I spend a certian ammount of turns on indivual units, or the empire as a whole. Say, Iv got a division of some warriors. Would they have a number below them and then Im only able to move them that number? Or is it in a way where I spend, say, 10 turns on recerching this, 20 turns recerching that, 5 moving this army, 20 building this city and then click on a buttion and see everything unfold. Also, are there multiple ways to play (IE: diplomatic, conquest and the like)? Lasty, if I want to be an evil tyrant, or a benevolent leader, can I do that? Or will I be leveled by some country because Im mean to my people? Metal up your ass!
Rayo Puño
Well as for turns: Each turn you can do everything you need, but it's limited. For units, they can move a certain amount per turn (usualy one grid space per turn). And things you build take a certain amount of turn to complete (like a market may take 5 turns, while the Statue of Liberty may take 50, it depends on the location of the city that is building it and how much it can produce). Also researching technologies takes turns to complete (like researching hunting may take 5 turns). As for your style of play, you can do as you please in any game. There are _ winning conditions. One is military, where you destroy all other civs. Another being diplomatic, where after the UN is built you are elected head of it or something. Another is technology, where the first one to complete a spaceship wins. Scoring the most points by I think 2500AD is one. And the last is your civ having like 70% of the maps land area and 50% population. You can choose your route to victory.
AlianAnt
Downloaded the demo and, once my brain cleared out and started getting the hang of it (whenever I play a strat game for the first time, my head feels as if theres too much to do), I started to like it. Unfortinueatly, its only a 100 turn demo. Which is lame. Otherwise, it was really cool, even though I was getting slaugheterd by all the other Civs. I think I might buy it. Metal up your ass! CrazyDude
The thing I really hate about the game is there is a limit of turns. Even in the full version. It should just go on until someone wins something. Plus build warriors and various units takes a damn long time. I like how in games like Ages of Empires the jobs of building different things are distributed out among different things.

AlianAnt
Got the full version and after seven hours straight of playing, its pretty addicting. This mofo seems to be a serious hog though, my graphics cards never gotten over 63C. When I loaded up the temp tracker, it was at 71C! Im not gona look at my processor. Im afrade. However, very fun and addicting. Should have gone to bed three hours ago, but couldent stop playing. Metal up your ass!
Dublo 7
Then greece came in and f*cked it all up. Started fight me and stuff. Haha (flexes), us Greeks rule you. I've been hearing amazing things about this game. I haven't played any of the previous games, but I will definately check this out soon. So is this game similar to Sim City or something? AlianAnt
Are there any mods that add more leaders to the game? Or an expantion pack, or somthing offical coming down the pipe? There were alot of people that I was expecting to be in the full game, but wernt. For example: President Eisenhower, Hitler (while he may be a touchie subject and subsequently not put in the game, which is understandible), President Lincoln, Cleopatra (I was really surprised she wasent in), King Richard. What I did like, however, was the fact that America got its own empire (I am American ). It seems in just about every empire building game I'v played, America wasent in. I suppose its because we havent been around for a very long time. But I thought that was cool Metal up your ass!
Rayo Puño
There are a bunch of mods out there where you can add more countries and I'm assuming leaders along with them. Check PlanetCivilization.com.
