College Basketball Discussion

This is the place to talk about college basketball. Not sure how many college basketball fans we have here, but hopefully at least as many as college football.

Anyway, the season started today, and Syracuse is whooping on Bethune-Cookman in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic biggrin.gif Any early predictions on the Final Four? I have to go with Duke (as much as I hate them, they are stacked), UConn, Villanova (assuming they get Curtis Sumpter back before the tournament) and George Washington (gotta pick a cinderella tounge.gif )

Oh, and this is Cuse BTW

I get the fealing it's gonna suck being an Illinois fan this year. I think last year was the only shot we had at winning a title. This will be a true test for Dee Brown to see if he can carry an entire team on his shoulders without the help of 2 other brilliant players.

Yeah I think it will be a tough year for the Illini. Not only did they lose Head and Williams, but I think Roger Powell was very underrated. I think they can have a good year, but I think their season will not get past the Sweet 16.

Bump. Where have all the B-Ball fans gone?

Has anyone been watching the ACC-Big Ten Challenge? Last I checked the ACC leads 3-2. All that I care about though is that the Illini beat North Carolina last night to stay unbeaten. I hope they can kepe this pace up.

OU looks good this season, being ranked 6th, is which something I didn't expect. But, I say OSU or Duke wins it all.

They're ranked 5th now. But then again, they're only 3-0.

Where did Nebraska get a basketball team? They've been unranked for years.

The ACC won their 7th straight ACC/Big Ten Challenge title this year. The final standing were ACC-6 Big Ten-5. It's the 4th time the ACC won by only one game.

That only proves how good the ACC is. Maybe it would of been better if the ACC went at against the Big XII. OU, Texas, Nebraska, OSU, Kansas, K State, Missouri..I think it would of been more even this time around.

The Illini beat a very scrappy Xavier team today. Xavier led most of the game but Illinois was able to get a good run going in the second half to win the game and go 7-0.

It also didn't hurt that Illiois made more Free throws than Xavier even attempted.

#1Duke whooped up on #2 Texas today with a final score of 97-66, when I was watching Duke was up by about 10 with a few minutes left in the first half....

Redick exploded in this game setting a career high with 41 points, also this week he became Duke's All-Time 3 point shooter... Way to go JJ

(i like duke basketball)

UNC has surprised me this year. Last i checked they are ranked 19th in the nation. They have some damn good players, like Hansbrough (sorry if i murdered the spelling) is an absolute stud in the paint as a freshman.

Duke is stacked, but beatable. I agreee that they are no. 1, however. And this is coming from a UNC fan.

I guess Illinois has shut my sorry ass up. I thought it would be a tough year for Iliini fans but I guess not. 11-0 and ranked #8. I think they will only get better because all the Freshman and Sophomore's they have been playing can only get better with experiance and playing time.
I have to admit, I thought the Illini would have a tough season also after losing most of their nucleus of last year's team. They do have some good young players though. I like Pruitt a lot. I saw him play as a senior in high school, and I think he can be very good.

I actually had a funny feeling before that game. I guess now I see why. We all knew it would be tougher for the Illini to go through the Big 10 schedule undefeated this year than it was last year. Now I just hope we never play that bad again.

Crazy day in college basketball today. All 3 unbeatens went down, and Wisconsin gets beaten by the North Dakota State Bison. At home.

An interesting question comes up with the 3 unbeatens losing: who is #1? I say UConn. I think that when they are on their game, no team in the country can beat them. What do you guys think?
