cambo52s
Hello, I've been messing around with GTA3:PC for a while now and I really wanted to change some of the sound effects in the game, such as the bell sound the brdige to Shoreside Vale makes. What I've seen so far is that all the SFX are stored in a .RAW file format. I tried to convert it with MFaudio and a program called "Twave," but both just give me all the sound effects at once. When this buig sound file is played, all the SFX are together, and have various speed settings for eatch. What I mean is that a tire skidding sound sounds normal, but the ice cream van music sound is fast and higer pitched. This is making me think that all the sound files are put together in this .RAW format like an archive. So my question is, how do I view all these SFX, change what I want, and save them again so GTA3:PC can work with it?
xrk
gta sound tools can extract all the sfx files into a folder and rebuild the sfx with your edited audio, you can find it here

cambo52s
For f*ck's sake. The importer program worked once and now it wont work at all. Any ideas on what to do or another other programs that will rebuild the SDT and RAW files?
xrk
Get your two sfx files and copy them to a new folder, then run the exe that exports it all, wait a while and the folder will be full of the sfx.wav files, edit what you want then put the edited wav you made in the folder replacing whichever one it's s'pose to replace then run the over exe to rebuild the sfx then just put the sfx files back in your audio folder, done! just back up the sfx files before hand
cambo52s
Yeah I did make a backup thankfully . I did manage to get it to work and I found the problem. My new sound file that i replaced wasn't set at the right frequency. I got a resampler and set it to 22 KHz, which is what all the other sound files are at, and the SFX were compiled back into the RAW and SDT files flawlessly. However, when I go to listen to it in game, it just makes this ear piercing noise and repeats fast. What did I do wrong and what can I do to fix it? And thanks xrk you been a lot of help so far! xrk
It might be bitrate as well, just try and make sure your edited files are the same as the original in every way... other than the actual sound of course edit.. I remember having that problem, try converting your new audio in dbpoweramp Edited November 9, 2005 by xrk
