OCDee Posted November 1, 2005 Share Posted November 1, 2005 okay.....many people Discuss what year GTA3 was set. i just found some proof(unless you've seen it before). if i remember correctly, You see Claude In San Andreas...and the Intro of San Andreas it say "1992",....its the year Catalina and Claude find each other. ... the Intro of GTA on the newspaper it say "10 Years For Love"... if i get this straight. what is 1992 + 10?. 2002. for those who wonders, look no further. its no official of course, but its still a cool found isn't it, unless Mxyzptlk have found it before. Another possible interpretation of this headline is that Fido got a 10-year prison term after commiting robbery "for love." Edit: Bah! I went and used "Claude" at first. Dan Houser quoted in Playstation Official Magazine-UK talking about Liberty City Stories: "If GTA3 was roughly 2001, this is roughly '98, though we keep it fairly loose on the actual years." rav0 Posted November 21, 2005 Share Posted November 21, 2005 In GTA3, Claude/Fido was robbing a bank with Catalina in 2001, Claude was caught and sentenced in 2001. The ten year jail term starts in 2001, not 1991, just after the couple was in San Andreas. While he was being transported while in custody, Claude was broken out by accident. It says so right in the opening cutscene. That time was picked because that was when the LA Riots happened. Listen to April 29, 1992 by Sublime for a date reference (and a really cool song). Anyone notice how the timeline is set in multiples of three. So if they wanted to make a new game for the PSP it would be set in 1989 and 1995 well that is what I predict. They chose 1986 because they wanted an 80s atmosphere. They chose 1986 specifically because of the music that they wanted. San Andreas is set in 1992 because that's when the L.A. Riots happened. Again, they wanted to capture a specific time. There isn't much difference in the atmosphere between 1986 and 1989 or between 1992 and 1995. GTAIII's timeline was simply "present day." And LCS had to take place between Vice City and GTAIII. But since I haven't played LCS, I don't know why that specific date was chosen. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
