Dominioned
INTRO Im not from the US, so I don't know if this is common knowledge, but Vice City is actually modelled after Greater Miami. The west island is carved out of mainland USA and the East Side is cut off at the top and bottom as well. The 4 long bridges across the sea in VC are 41 MacArthur Causeway, Venetian Causeway (the middle island becomes starfish island), 112 (or is it195) and JF Kenneday Cswy (north bay village becomes the prawn island place) in south to north order. On the left Little Havana, Little Haiti and Downtown are part of mainland USA. Little Haiti is north of Little Havana but downtown is actually south of Little Havana. The east coast (miami beach) is strikingly similar to that in VC and the east most road is lined with hotels (other lodgings) in both VC and miami. There is an island called star island but it is attached to a bridge south of that in VC. The thir bridge from the south is indeed relatively clear of any island, but the southmost bridge in miami has islands though not in VC. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OTHER INFO Remember you heard it first from dominion ([email protected]) at www.gtaforums.com It first struck me when I watched CSI miami and saw the river running through between banks of high buildings. If you have already announced this/heard this somewhere verifable, please post the location here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE HELP (only if you can) If you want to help, please post the actual places that appears in Vice City from Miami except for the obvious. Names of buildings and infrastructures that are in both, as well as photographs of miami and corresponding VC screenshots are greatly appreciated. Feel free to email me if you have such info. Happy searching, this could turn out to be a whole new game. Edited October 25, 2005 by Dominioned
adamcs
Erm, yea, I think it's kinda blatantly obvious. If you have already announced this/heard this somewhere verifable, please post the location here. R*
Dominioned
Where does it say on Rockstar? I haven't seen it up there. But then again, it could be still fun hunting for similar buildings and infrastructures.
Jimi Hendrix
As if I didn't know that. That was always the theme. Ever since GTA1. Vice City is a mini replica of Miami. Ocean Beach = South Beach, there actually is Little Havana, the marina is Bayside (with the Hard Rock Cafe)... But Downtown is nothing like that. Dominioned
"that was the theme". What was the theme? What is the link with GTA? Well Im not an American so I didnt find this out until recently and I started with Vice City(not GTA I), but apparently you people do. Its still an exciting discovery for me since I came to it at a moment of sudden enlightenment without prior knowledge of where miami is at (except that its somewhere in the US and with the previous thought that Vice City is simply made up since you cant find two islands linked like that)

It gives games a realistic feel.
GnR-NoD
well it's not only based on geofrafic, but also it's based on : 1-miami vice (tv series) 2-scar face (movie) 3-carlitos way (movie(it's like a secuel to scar face, but it realy isn't)) 4-other series and movies (but they are kinda misselaneus) so its quite fun to be like al pachino in scar face and acend into crime world plus the 2 main carachters of miami vice apear ,as detectives on the 3 star wanted level i figure you know this allready but i jsut had to say that
