asimov
True, I'm only like level 4 at the moment so i need someplace to buy 40 or 50 to see me up to level 12. I'll do that quest asap.
Robinski
I bought the GOTY edition for PS3 about 4 months ago and only just got around to playing it today. I started it once but got frustrated with the slow start, especially when I had games like GTA and Resistance freshly purchased and waiting to be played. It's a pretty damn good game once you give it a chance, I'm partway through quests for 3 different guilds. My only problem is lockpicks, where is the best place to get them? No shop seems to stock them. I have like 1000 gold from looting one of the mage guilds for all their potions and selling them back to the guild shop. edit - clean up this sloppy post There's always SHady Sam outside the Imperial city. I haven't played in a while but i know if you go to the outside walls of the city (i.e. on the outisde, dont go into the city) and follow it around as best you can, you'll eventually come across Shady Sam. If i remember correctly, he'll also buy some stolen goods off you, emaning you can off-load your swag without joining the thieves guild.
asimov
Well I've pretty much played this game non-stop for the past few days, I've done a fair few side quests, completed the arena and only just closed my second gate. I'm level 14 right now, where are the best places to go for armour/loot at my level?
Damo.
I have a bit of a dilemma. I have just enough MS points to afford either Mehrune's Razor or the Orrery, and I can't decide which to get. So which DLC is more worthwhile? The razor or the Orrery?
asimov
From what I've heard Mehrune's razor is the best. I've put at least 100 hours into this game and I've still got so much to do. It's probably because I've closed almost 40 oblivion gates right now. I'm level 36 but I keep getting crappy Sigil stones., so i keep closing gates . I have only completed the arena and the Knights of Nine plugin and over half the mages guild quest line. The rest all needs doing.
fox09
With Mehrune's Razor you get a whole new quest, with a massive new dungeon to explore, and at the end of it, you get a really cool dagger. With the Orrery, you get to run around and kill some bandits, then the Orrery will give you crappy lesser powers every now and then. Go for Mehrune's Razor. Did you know that they are randomly generated according to your level? You can save and reload until you get one you like. The most powerful stones appear at level 17. asimov
Oh goddamit, I have like 7 fortify fatigue stones and a whole pile of other sh*tty ones, what a waste! Well I've finished the main questline yesterday so there's no more gates anyway.
GTA3Rockstar
Or if you have the Wizard Tower, save in the living room and delete it you'll get all the sigil stones in the game?(Xbox 360)
asimov
Argh I have the PS3 version. Anyway, what's the deal with enchanting armour/weapons? By this I mean, how many enchantments can you put on a peice of armour of weapon at the same time? I'd like to get some swords/maces that have weakness to frost or whatever combined with *frost damge. I'm guessing it comes down to the skill level?
kingzing
You can have as many enchantments that are as powerful as you like but it's limited to the power of the soul and soul gem you use. If you try to make an enchantment that's too powerful, you'll only get one or two uses before you have to recharge the weapon. Also, you can only enchant items with spells that you know. For example, if you want to create a weapon with frost damage, then you need to know a frost damage spell.
Hart
bump I sold Fallout 3 because I eventually got bored, just doesn't give as much freedom as I thought. I started playing Oblivion again and I love it. One thing though, it's really fun going to random camps and killing all the bandits, is there any way that they won't attack me? Anytime I get near them, even with my weapon sheathed, they still attack me. I want to talk to them before I murder them. I'm on 360 by the way, so mods won't help. kingzing
Nah, they're programmed to be hostile to you so there's no way to talk to them.
Damo.
Since this has been bumped, I thought some of you might be interested to know that the majority of the DLC is going for half price on XBL this week, so if there's any DLC you missed out on now's the time to grab it. A 100 point charm spell will do the trick. They don't have anything to say other then rumors. The spell should be easy to make, it only has to last three or so seconds since once you reach dialogue the game is paused. Also you'll have to probably yield to them unless you sneak up to them. asimov
You can talk to almost any NPC in the game with the right charm spell, even the monsters in the Oblivion gates. I kinda regret selling this game now, IMO they could've made it 100% better by allowing you to play your own music in the background like on the Xbox. That etheral background noise gets very old. Hart
Cheers. Also, I've got a spare 270 MS points, which add-on should I get? It's between: The Wizards Tower The Fighters Stronghold Mehrunes Razor (I've heard this is good) The Thieves Den The Orrery Spell Tomes The Vile Lair Which was is the longest, has the best weapons/characters/armour? Also, in the normal game is there any rare monsters? I liked that wierd ice monster (Frost Atronach I think) protecting the frozen tears of that warrior. I'm just getting bored of fighting goblins, rats, daedra etc Edited April 11, 2009 by Hart

I'm just getting bored of fighting goblins, rats, daedra etc Mehrune's Razor is a good add-on. Hint: Beating people to death with a hoe/pickaxe is hilarious. The Fighter's Stronghold is equally, if not more, awesome. You get a big castle you can upgrade over time, with a bunch of people willing to fight to the death for you, your own personal blacksmith, a trophy room, personal trainer, wine cellar, cook, and the list goes on. I've made sure that every character goes and gets the deed to this place first. The Wizard's Tower is also good, if you're playing with a magic-oriented character, and has teleports to all the Mage's Guilds in Cyridiil (including Kvatch). The Orrey provides a different major power every month, and the quest to get the parts will garner quite a bit of loot if you're a high enough level. The other ones, I do not have, but you can choose what you wish to have.

Jonesizzle
I might be past due, but I recently just bought Oblivion to see what I have been missing for the past years. I have indeed been missing quite a beautiful game, the story is good, I love doing different quest and making gold. But, sadly, this game fails at puzzles. Maybe my game is glitched but whenever I go into a cave and have to press "blocks" for gates to open, they simply don't. Whenever I was doing the last quest for the Thieves Guild I had to go through a cave, at some point I had to use boots I acquired earlier for The Gray Fox, which makes me jump high. I had to press one block, jump down to the floor jump back up on the other side and press the other block within' maybe 4 or 5 seconds. I was stuck, for hours, literally, at the same spot, jumping back and forth back and forth. It sucked ass to the point where I saved the game and quit playing for a few days. I gathered myself to try just one more time to do this sh*t-f*cked puzzle. I press one block and the gate opens, after hours of trying to figure out how to open it, maybe I was missing something? No, I press the block once and it opened. This has happened with the other Alyeid caves, with horrible blocks to press. Maybe it is just me, but I think this is a great game, it is a shame it has taken me 4 years to figure so.
The N. Bellic Man
It's a good game, but I lost interest after 90 hours of gameplay. I didn't even bother to play it to the end. I'm not saying that the game is boring, but it certainly gets on my nerves after all that time spend playing. I bet that it would have been mind-blowing if I would have played it when it originally came out, but now, not so much. I didn't pay much of it so no harm done. And I should add that certain aspects of gameplay were pretty enjoyable.
Seddo
I only gained an interest in this game a couple of months ago after all the years it had been out, for a 2006 game it had some pretty good graphics. Shame that it had quite bad frame rate issues at times but it was nothing game crippling. For me the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood Guild were my favourite sets of quests, one of my main skills was sneak so that helped me a lot. The last few missions in the Fighters Stronghold were pretty good as well. Were there only like 5 voice actors for this game? Still have to pick up Shivering Isles sometime in the future. I suppose the advantage of playing these games a few years late is that the sequels are never to far away from release.
meta187
Were there only like 5 voice actors for this game? lol. Right. Same thing in Fallout. Bethseda will not shell out for more voice actors not sure what's up with that. I just picked up this game to tide me over till Mafia II drops as I played a crapload of Fallout but I kinda got screwed up early on. I've been stealing nonstop and got a vampire curse. I've been in a few fights that permanantly f*cked up my stats and I can't heal at the temple to repair them because my status is notorious from the stealing and the blood feeding so I can't get my stats restored at any of the temples. Is there another way to restore them? The Wiki says Restore Attribute is what I need but hasnt been overly specific about where to find that. Anyone? I know this game is old as f*ck from the 360 launch no less but any help is appreciated. ~ Studio: Q-13 Lounge / Q:13 Warrior Tunes / Interweb Chex Mix, yo.~

Rockworm
I always found it funny that they forked in so much money to get someone so recognizable like Patrick Stewart only to have him in a role that dies before the tutorial is over LOL.
