Werven
I've enchanted 5 items with 20% chameleon, thus making me completely invisible. So basically I can breeze through the Oblivion Gates without having to actually fight, and the Thieves Guild missions will be as easy as pie. That kinda ruins the game doesn't it? I remember doing that and I thought I was the sh*t for about 15 minutes but then I got bored. You essentially are a non-participant in the game once you are invisible, you kill whoever and whatever you want and nobody will fight you. Like a weapon that is much too powerful, I locked it away in my vault and never touched it again, sort of. I had a stack of saves, maybe 40, and I was doing the main quest (very late into the game mind you). Well long story short, that save file was deleted and I was set back about 2 weeks worth of play, specifically help for Bruma. If you don't understand what I'm getting at, basically I destroyed about 8 Oblivion gates for that quest. This would've taken a solid 5 hours to do again and Oblivion gates are like watching paint dry, plus I had gathered massive amounts of loot from them that I couldn't get from standard invisibility. So I picked up the chameleon suit and wrecked all the oblivion gates in about and hour. I don't regret it either. Oblivion is a game about controlling your own powers, they make it too easy to become technically indestructible, I could easily set my self to reflect damage 120% but there would be no point in playing. Same goes for resist normal weapons. Anyways, the level cap is 255 I believe. @Waddy - Try UESP.net, they're pretty thorough about easter eggs etc. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Oblivion (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Oblivion) (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Oblivion) Ive had my stay long enough on the TES forums to remember theres a difference between chameleon and invisibility, which are two different spells, you can't actually enchant anything to actually make you 'invisible', theres only spells with bottled time, all chameleon does, is cloak you, some enemies can see through it, or so I remember, I may be wrong, been ages since I've owned it, it was a nice little game while it lasted, god, I don't think I have ever been addicted to a game as much as I have oblivion lasted me through late 06' to early 08' before I ever got tired of it, and I had the 360 version with all the DLC on it, I had done pretty much everything there was to do before I gave up, hundreds of quests, the main storyline, factions, the emperors robe glitch, I had nothing left to do except wander around, so I sold it, but now, I kinda miss it. Machida
Miles fitter in Shivering isles! Did I say that outloud? I like Shivering Isles, Im doing it for the second time now, doing it opposite. Such a great add on. Oh yes! but the Golden Saint males completely ruined the fantasy! To be honest it's a game I haven't picked up in a long time, I'm enjoying a bit of free time these days so I dare not pick it up again. I must have put at least 300 hours in back in the day. Shivering Isles was especially good though. I think I found myself favouring the dark path on my first play through. Have you found the tomb stone easter egg yet? The what now? Im sure theres so many secrets ive missed out on, I never seem to be able to find any good websites with locations of good weapons and loot. Nah, there really isn’t a lot of loot drops in the game. A lot of the new weapons seem to be gained from completing certain missions during the main quest. Besides from the amber and madness weapons you can have crafted at the armouries using collected ore, I really can think of anything else. There was an old Wiki page I used to frequent for answers back when I was playing. It may just be my tired eyes but it’s a bit difficult to read in most parts.. [img=http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Shivering:Shivering_Isles] It also has a little section on easter eggs at the bottom of the page. I remember the tombstone easter egg entertained my simple mind to no end! It’s a small graveyard not too far down the track from the main city gate (New Sheoth), almost in the center of the map I believe. A tombstone will appear for every NPC you kill and each one has it’s own unique engraving. Some of them were quite funny, I though it was a nice little touch! ICEKING_688
I have asked this once before but noone answered the question. How do you go about installing the official mods onto the computer e.g. The Wizards Tower and The Thieves Den etc.? This is because whenever I try to it I get an error message stating that the setup will now terminate. p.s. I have all the mods in the Saves folder of Oblivion. poopskin
well, it can't be much harder then in morrowind...if i recall, you just plop the .ESMs and .ESPs into the "oblivion/data files" directory then enable them from the play/options menu, or use a program like wrye bash (a program you should have either way) to do it. Breaking Bohan
Question: VAMPIRE GLITCH I stupidly decided to become a vampire - assuming that it may be cool and could be reversable. Now, I read back through posts, but I'm not sure what this "glitch" actually is. I'm on a quest to cure the disease, and got ingredients for the cure, but the woman WILL NOT RECOGNIZE that I have "bloodgrass" (she only needs 2 and I have like 12). Is this what the "glictch" is? If so, can it be fixed?! (I have the GOTY edition for PS3 - in case that makes a difference) Also, is anyone else having problems with the game freezing up when you reload saved games? This has happened like 8 times already - annoying.

Oblivionz
What do you guys recommend I do to level up more? I have my lockpicking at 50-ish, and I've been doing a lot of sneaking around and breaking into houses/murdering people. Anything else I can do? Where are some good caves/dungeons at? Well, what are your major skills? Tell us and I can suggest good methods for raising them, some not so honest... As for the caves and dungeons, refer to my last post. You'll get crappy loot if you go into them at low levels. So just level up and then visit them. You'll get more gold, better potions, etc. And all that murder, don't you care you might wack a quest character? By the way, does killing someone in their homes silently or silently in general boost your infamy score? I can't recall. I didn't realize infamy was in play until it was about 150. And mainly it's all the spell types I want to train up. I did the count hassildor rewards glitch and have 800,000 gold so that really isn't a factor in anything. Plus, I'm up to level 21. Infamy is in play from 1. You can balance it out with Fame though. Then now would be a good time to hit the dungeons, forts, and ruins. Being your level guarantees loot of the great-best range. Oblivionz
Dungeons aren't 100% my thing, though. I mainly frequented them earlier to get some gold, but now I have like 300 times the amount more than I need.
asimov
I just started a new game and I'm not sure what to do first. I'm only level two but I have a few hundred gold, I've gotten a note from the dark brotherhood and I've scoped out a few dungeons. What is the bets place to start for me? I've heard that putting off the main quest for as long as possible is my best option right now. I'm a Redgaurd aswell. Oh and I stole some lady's horse, is there someplace I can stash it, along with any extra items I don't want to carry around with me? Like a bank perhaps? Yes I realise I can't stash a horse in the bank.

Yes I realise I can't stash a horse in the bank. If you have the official addons, you can stash them around one of the houses you can get, the castle (Fighters Stronghold) being the best. If your running the PC version, you can probably find some addon to add a house that will work, I have one that's in a book and you can teleport to once you have a high enough level to use the spell. DexX
i've got a question, for those of you who've played this game...more than me. The question in a nutshell is, do i have to do the story missions, or can i ignore them forever? What happened is when i started my game in september, i just started with the story stuff, i went to Kvatch, looked for martin, entered the oblivion gate, and came back out of the gate, before i beat it, to get some health potions. I was level 1 when i left. My character is level 22 now, and is an accomplished battlemage, nearing the master levels of blade and light armor, and journeyman or higher in conjuration, destruction and restoration. I'm a sucker for side-quests, and basically i just like wandering/finding places/killing bandits/setting the wildlife on fire. Except now when i re-enter the oblivion gate (still at kvatch mind you), all the enemies are leveled to me, so i can't get 10ft in without being swamped by clannfears, storm atronochs, and various other ne'er do well, who i can't defeat without some serious voodoo. The enemies are leveled, so if i put it off any longer, it's only going to become more difficult, and i can't quite get in as it is. I'll eventually run out of side quests. Did i screw myself here? Are the other oblivion gates harder than this one? Oh yea, do the Unicorns serve any purpose? I found one and rode off on it, it was badass when it helped me kill a minotaur, but less so when it attacked me afterwards. So i re-loaded, and let the minotaur kill that bitch, and took his horn. For a mythical creature, you'd think the horn would be worth more than 1 gold

The question in a nutshell is, do i have to do the story missions, or can i ignore them forever? Yeah you can blank the main quest for as long as you want. I was level 52 before I began the main mission. As all the enemies are levelled, I was hacking away for ages just to get into an Oblivion gate. All gates are roughly of the same difficulty and generally you’ll face the same amount of enemies with each one. Raising your armour skills can help. If you’re comfortable with cheating turn the difficulty right down, wander into a goblin mine and let them hit you until your hearts content. You can quickly raise all your armour skills like this. The unicorn is part of the Shrine of the Hircine quest which can be found just a little N/E from where you found the unicorn. There is only one unicorn in the game though and it does attack you every time you get your weapon out.. So yeah.. Got what it deserved!

Pranjal
The Unicorn will let you ride only when you are unarmed. If you wield a weapon from your inventory it will immediately attack you. You can ignore the main story missions but eventually you will run out of side quests and have to do the story line missions sooner or later. DexX
Yea, i found a workaround; swim through the lava, then run to the tower, like the devil himself is chasing you. Sorted out martin, and took back kvatch. and i've got to hand it to savlian matius, he's f*cking hardcore. He's the only guard in the game i've seen who can fight daedra with no pants on: Not sure how that happened, but it made the combat even more absurd looking than normal

Mike Tequeli
I have Oblivion for the 360, and a burnt copy of Oblivion for the PC. I never felt any problem with doing it, since I owned it for the 360 and I hardly play Oblivion PC, I do it for the modding mostly. The security protection is pretty nonexistent too. asimov
I bought the GOTY edition for PS3 about 4 months ago and only just got around to playing it today. I started it once but got frustrated with the slow start, especially when I had games like GTA and Resistance freshly purchased and waiting to be played. It's a pretty damn good game once you give it a chance, I'm partway through quests for 3 different guilds. My only problem is lockpicks, where is the best place to get them? No shop seems to stock them. I have like 1000 gold from looting one of the mage guilds for all their potions and selling them back to the guild shop. edit - clean up this sloppy post Edited December 3, 2008 by asimov

If you're like level 12, there's a Daedric shrine by Leyawiin that has a quest that will give you a skeleton key, which is an unbreakable lockpick. Can't quite remember the exact spot, but it's across the river in the forested area by the road near Leyawiin for sure.
