Otter
I'm installing OBLIVION: Game of the year edition for PC as I write this. Could anyone please reccomend some Oblivion mods? OOO. That's Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3063 (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3063) There are some bugs, but OOO completely revamps the leveling of the world around you - now all dungeons have a set number of rewards and baddies, not leveled to your character. You'll no longer run into beggars and bandits wearing mythic armour when you're a high-level character. It makes the game quite a bit harder, but infinitely more rewarding. Be aware that because OOO is so extensive, you have to make sure other mods do not conflict with it. Ren's Beauty pack http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4431 (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4431) Natural Environments http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2536 (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2536) BAB Body mod http://www.leiawen.net/ceedee/BabSite/index.html (http://www.leiawen.net/ceedee/BabSite/index.html) (May conflict with OOO) There are tons of good ones out there. Duke Nukem
I just picked up the game a week ago, been having TOO much fun with this sh*t. I didn't think this game would be that addicting, but damn, loads of fun. One part has me stuck though. All I can find on google or anywhere is that it's a bug, so I'm assuming I'm going to have to use a console command to bypass it, but I figured I'd try here as a last resort. How the f*ck do you open the Dark Door to the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary? I'm supposed to "attempt" to open the door, then speak a special phrase but when I click it, nothing happens! Otter
Man - that happened to me, too, but I can't remember how I got around it. I'll hunt around on google for you.
Duke Nukem
Man - that happened to me, too, but I can't remember how I got around it. I'll hunt around on google for you. Unless I'm blind, the only thing I've been able to find anywhere is typing "coc cheydinhalsanctuary" in the console without the quotes. I guess it just teleports you into the Sanctuary, and you've got to do it each and every time until you get the key that opens the well I'd rather not do that, as I'd prefer to be able to open it, but it seems to be the only solution. Thanks otter, much appreciated.
Otter
You didn't kill Lucious, did you? EDIT - it may be a conflict with your mods - I'd just go about using the console commands to warp in, or give yourself the key to the well. And I haven't got any mods installed, I read that could've been a conflict to. I haven't even installed any mods to begin with, just been playing normal Oblivion. Either giving myself the key or warping in seems to be the only way around it. Looks like that's what I'll be doing. Again, much appreciated man. EDIT - So, it definitely seems to be a bug. I've used the warp feature to get in, and on the 3rd quest or so, I found an NPC stuck at the door to. Couldn't help but laugh, even the computer can't get in lol. Breaking Bohan
Can someone tell me what the point is of being a vampire? I recently just became one -- and i fed on a few people, but is that really necessary??? Is there any point to being a vampire - I understand my eyes are kind of red and my character looks a bit older, but is that all that happens? (if so it seems kinda lame)
Waddy
I never got it either. Nobody will speak to you and such though, so it can suck a little. Not sure of any advantages.
fox09
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Vampires You basically just get a bunch of buffs and spells.
Damo.
The main advantages of being a vampire are the great stat boosts and powers. They increase the longer you go without feeding, however you will take damage from the sun and people might refuse to talk to you. The stat boosts are good, but they're not worth it. ICEKING_688
Can someone tell me what the point is of being a vampire? I recently just became one -- and i fed on a few people, but is that really necessary??? Is there any point to being a vampire - I understand my eyes are kind of red and my character looks a bit older, but is that all that happens? (if so it seems kinda lame) There are 4 major advantages of being a vampire. The first one is called Hunter's Sight, which grants nighteye for 30 seconds, and a very wide range detect life abilty, which is available after the first, nightmare dream vision . The second ability is a very high powered charm spell, called Vampire's Seduction, available after 24 hours after not feeding. The third abilty is called Reign of Terror and is a silencing and demoralising ability, and you get after yet another 24 hours of not feeding. The fourth, final and best major advantage is only available after 4 days without feasting on the red stuff of life, it gives you 90 seconds of night eye, and 180 seconds (three minutes) on invisiblity, called Embrace of Shadow. You are also endowed with +5 in three attributes and skills, these being Strength, Willpower, Speed, Acrobatics, Athletics, Destruction Hand-to-Hand, Illusion, Mysticism and Sneak. These increase an additional +5 everyday you do not feed. You will also resistance against disease paralysis and normal weapons that will increase additionally everday you do not feed. However, like vampires in real world fiction you cannot go outdoors during the day lest you burn to death, if you fed within 24 hours, and the damage will increase everytime you do not feed for another 24 hours. Also you will have a slight weakness to Fire damage, that increases everytime you do not feed for 24 hours. Finally when you reach the fourth without blood, you are a true vampire and no one will speak to you unless you use the high powered spell that was the second ability. Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
Well I'm about completely frustrated with closing Oblivion gates. So, when I get home today, I'm going to spend the rest of the day assembling what I need to obtain the 100% Constant Chameleon effect. Through enchanting all my armor of course. Then I'll get my sneak to 100, and basically become a f*cking ghost. With that, I'll just sneak past all the Deadra and grab that sigil stone. Will also come in super handy if I begin the Thieves Guild quests.
Mike Tequeli
Started a new game today. Trying to play through on the hardest difficulty settings. I got killed by the first two rats. Kind of pointless don't you think? I mean it's an RPG, meaning you have to beat someone with a razor sharp sword at least 25 times on normal settings, hard is just ridiculous. That is unless you intend to be stealthy, in which case it could be a good motivation to never get caught. By the way guys, my main character is a vampire and I don't have much problem with it. The trick is to never ever sleep or wait and you don't die in the sun since it counts as being one really long day for your character. For me, the ability to wait is a foreign luxury, I normally fast travel between places to pass time. Also levels might stack up on you. That is unless you intend to be stealthy, in which case it could be a good motivation to never get caught. It's actually pretty cool. You know how on easier difficulties, there are some spells and magic school that are pretty much useless? Well, on hard, they're practically required. Have you ever used turn undead on a normal game? Or something like Alchemy becomes super-important. It adds more depth to the game, since you have to use your brain for every fight, and not just mindless hack and slash. After level 40 it starts to not matter though. That's not necessarily true. There's always more attributes to increase, and you can continue raising you're health and fatigue. I'm level 46, so it isn't as important, but it's still worth leveling.
asimov
I just bought the gamer of the year edition today for $40 brand new, I'll report back in a month when I've completed 10% of the game. What have I gotten myself into.
Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
I've enchanted 5 items with 20% chameleon, thus making me completely invisible. So basically I can breeze through the Oblivion Gates without having to actually fight, and the Thieves Guild missions will be as easy as pie. TheSamurai Hobo
Question. Is there any level maximum?.. I might buy Obliv for PC
Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
Well once you max out your major skills, you're done. I'm level 46, and I think I can level up just two more times, I have to become a master in Marksman. So, maybe level 48?
