Statutory Ray
^ Such as? If I may ask. Better voice acting, way more dialog options, better animation, scale leveling that isn't completely broken. Overall, gameplay that isn't tedious and repetitive and environments and characters that are interesting rather than generic.
Oblivionz
The game would be a lot funner with more achievements, too. The only achievements are for getting the ranks in all the guilds.
Breaking Bohan
I've been playing this game non-stop for like 10 days ... I love it and am completely amazed by how huge it is. I don't think I'm anywhere near finishing it. (Oh, this is the GOTY edition which contains S.Isles). So my question is how long did it take you guys to finish the game? And did it have any re-play value (like if you choose a different character/race to be)? Thanks! PS. Did anyone else find this game to be "glitchy"? I've already had to shut down the system like 3 times because it just freezes while loading - sucks. Also, is that "vampire" glitch fixed? If not, what do I do to avoid that? Otter
PC version, I'd imagine? Most glitches can be be avoided by following the the more common 'tweak' guides and f*cking with the ini files to better suit your processor. Funny enough, I don't think I ever got more than halfway through the main quest of the game. I just tricked it out with mods and went on all sorts of mini adventures and the beat all the guilds. The vampire bug is probably dealt with in the GOTY version, but rest easy - if it f*cks up on you, you can always just give yourself the cure via the console. Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
I'm not crazy about Oblivion's story and the destroying of the Oblivion gates is painfully repetitive. More of a dull chore than the awesome, tense journey into "Hell" that it was meant to be. I'm at the Allies for Bruma part of the game. I like it, reminds me of LOTR: Two Towers. Hopefully Gandolf will arrive in time for the battle.
jedimario
I never spent a lot of time with Oblivion, but I do have (probably) several hundred hours put into a Morrowind character. I might be about 75% done with everything, maybe That's counting mods and both expansions, of course.

ICEKING_688
Just got off the phone with HMV now (because I want to get OBLIVION for the PC), and they told me that it was discontinued in March this year. Is this true or not? Anyway I got a copy of it off game.com for £19.99. p.s. I am writing this off my PS3 so I am sorry if there are any mistakes
Oblivionz
Bought the game a few days ago! Whoo. Anyway, I've been working through the dark brotherhood, just got to the purification. What else is there I should do after this storyline is over? I haven't even touched the main quest yet, I'm looking to get some money, get some cool armor, stuff like that. Breaking Bohan
All I can say, is that I decided to spring for the Game of The Year edition, which has all expansion packs, for about $60 --- and although I've never played this style of game before - I think it is fairly amazing! The game is so huge you could play it for hundreds of hours .... It is a must have! PS. For the female elf: why aren't you a man?
Oblivionz
Na, got it on 360. I'm gonna be buying Shivering Isles and a couple of the other DLC pieces soon-ish on marketplace. What else should I do, or where should I go?

What else should I do, or where should I go? Buy it all at once - I hear some of the expansions are harder to find than you would expect - plus you're going to want them anyways and it won't cost you more in the end (maybe less). But if your strapped, then just buy the basic - I doubt you'll be disappointed. GO get it right now!!! (Thank me later)
Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
Ya, the game is awesome up until you're tasked with closing the Oblivion gates. Then it gets quite tedious. I wish I had those expansions, but I don't have the GOTY edition. My level 40-something Redguard is a f*cking beast needless to say. Yeah, I have the normal game and I might borrow my friends Shivering Isles disk, and after that I'll buy the other small things like the ice wizard's tower or whatever from the marketplace. Any caves/forts or anything I should explore that have cool loot at like, level 5?

Breaking Bohan
I'd recommend working on your ability to pick locks, steal everything, and then have someone to sell it to. It really helps you build up your cash and you can get some fancy weapons .... I'll admit - I've only closed 1 oblivion gate, been to a few, but I do find them frustrating, and there is so much other crap I haven't done, I just chose to do other stuff ... but that doesn't mean the game isn't great. The extra 20 clams for the expansion packs are worth it!

Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
Any caves/forts or anything I should explore that have cool loot at like, level 5? At a level that low, I'd honestly recommend you don't visit any forts or caves. Why? Because with Oblivion's leveling system, the loot you'd get in those caves would coorespond to your level. So, at level 5, you'll get sh*tty level 5 loot as opposed to some possible awesome loot at much higher levels. So, I suggest you hit the Ayleid Ruins, etc. when you're like level 15, but that's just me. I think I waited even longer as a matter of fact. Oblivionz
What do you guys recommend I do to level up more? I have my lockpicking at 50-ish, and I've been doing a lot of sneaking around and breaking into houses/murdering people. Anything else I can do? Where are some good caves/dungeons at? Breaking Bohan
I'm not that far through the game - yet if you haven't done so, you could try to kick some ass in the arena (fighter's guild) - I was getting killed at first, but after I had leveled up (maybe 8 or 12) it became much easier to win fight after fight ... you can make some good cash and get experience. I also tried to do all Mage's Guild missions - which I found to be fairly fun - and that gives you a significant boost. I think I'm around level 16 ... (how many levels are there???) ... but I must still have a looong way to go because if I go into oblivion gate those damned monsters usually just beat the life out of me ... it makes me wish I could import weapons from GTAIV

Well, what are your major skills? Tell us and I can suggest good methods for raising them, some not so honest... As for the caves and dungeons, refer to my last post. You'll get crappy loot if you go into them at low levels. So just level up and then visit them. You'll get more gold, better potions, etc. And all that murder, don't you care you might wack a quest character? By the way, does killing someone in their homes silently or silently in general boost your infamy score? I can't recall. I'm so strong at this point, I killed a beggar in Chorrol the other day for fun with one power attack. Lulz.

I don't no how to break this to you but the Beggar's are extremely important for the Thieves Guild Questline and the Master Speechcraft Training quest, in which Tandilwe in the Temple of the One sends you to talk to all the beggars throughout the world of Cyrodiil. Basically you will have to restart you're whole game, if you completed these two quests before now.
