[WIP] IPL Editor

I noticed this, basically one of the mapitems is a huge lod object, and it is being rendered over the top of Vice City. I've changed the code now to prevent this, for the time being, don't attempt to load the entire map, just the section you wish to work on

I answered this question on the previous page, basically I forgot to re-enable the boxes when I was working on the cursor code, this is not a bug as such, it's just me being forgetful.

 

Lots of fixes in the newer version which should be out soon. I would recommend to anyone not to use v0.12a unless you are testing it smile.gif

 

 

As far as I know you can't add more than 5 new objects to the game because of the ID numbers, it is always best to start a new map or use existing objects

Wow thsi is great work man finally a map editor tounge.gif..only one thing though could you add a undo button to the edit menu becuse sometimes when you try to delet something another object gets deleted confused.gif

Tony,

The testing is running fine and some of the changes I have made to the game work just fine such as moving the Greasy Chopper and Well stacked Pizza to other locations. As for adding new objects in the game I am not doing that at the moment due to the differences in the two games ( GTASA & GTAVC) so for the moement I am content with just filling up empty space on the map. As for creating a new Island umm I don't think I am that advanced in mapping to be able to do such a thing. Even with the ability to drag huge chunks of land mass to another area and adding some buildings the problem I have ran into is that the game still crashes.

Also the models I have created in stechup that have interiors already for some reason do not show up ingame. I have looked around for tutorials on how to add models to VC but haven't found one most are geared to adding models to SA bit of a stopping point for me. But other than that the editor does exactly what it is supposed to do and nicely many I add biggrin.gif Oh and as for that huge LOD thing thanks for the heads up I was wondering that the heck was going on Guess I will have to limit my IPLs when I mess with VC.

New Version now available, Version 0.20a

 

Some major changes in this release. Contols now work more smoothly, there is an IMG Archive tool ,and also the ability to add custom objects.

 

When reporting bugs, from MEd, select Help > About My Computer and include the text when you post.

only thing that i miss from Moo Mapper is the "reset angle" tool view..

 

so examp. when you have selected an object and press "reset angle" it would

set the view like this.

Just updated the download, again, I left abit a bit of dodgy code in there, lol.

 

It will load the Liberty City in Vice City Mod properly now.

but when drivers not installed it say :

That's correct!

 

The default ATI drivers with Windows XP are rubbish for OpenGL. When you install the latest drivers, it updates OpenGL, allowing you too see textures, etc.

No, the palette extension is what GTAIII uses to display textures. This is emulated in MEd, so shouldn't cause you any problems. Basically, the opengl drivers on your machine don't support it.

But on the ATI website are no good upgrades to be found, and another thing...i found 2 ATI video card upgrades on the web a time ago (for the type video card i have), but when i installed them....i had to format my pc because no single game worked anymore confused.gif.

I agree,

 

I've got two machines, and NVidia 6600 and an oldish ATI Radeon 8500.

The NVidia Drivers are currently updated to OpenGL v2.0, and they some nice things, like automatic culling for Display Lists (Makes it faster).

 

The ATI drivers seem to have one or two problems with them, e.g. The newest drivers have caused problems with display lists.

 

 

I've posted a minor update on gtagarage for MapEditor, it adds a Reset Rotation button as requested by gt.killer (Let me know if this is what you meant!) and also fixed the New Item button not working correctly on the Item Definiton Window.

 

There is also preliminary coll and col3 file support, the items are loaded, but won't be used until the next version.

 

Unfortanely, loading times are getting slower as more information is loaded at runtime, without over complicating things, there are only a few minor things I can do to speed this up.

but i still get this:

OpenGL Renderer: RADEON 9200 DDR x86/SSE2

Supported Extension: GL_EXT_BGRA

Unsupported Extension: GL_EXT_PALETTED_TEXTURE

What should i do?

Nothing if the program works, don't worry about the unsupported palette extension, it is emulated. It is the same on both my computers

it(camera) should "Aim to the object" not "Aim away from the object"

I thought you meant the Reset Angle button from MooMapper, which simply resets all the object's angle's to zero.

 

I think I understand what you mean now, basically when you click Centre on Object, the camera should go behind and slightly above it, and then point downwards. Fixed that now, if that's what you meant?

Just found a bug which is probably in the version i have uploaded.

 

When you attempt to insert a new item using the context menu it ends up in a random place. I've fixed it now, and sorted out the camera problem, but I can't upload it because the version i am working on has a WIP collision file mode.

 

Sorry about this, I'll hopefully have a newer download next week.

 

Everytime I fix something, I end up breaking something else, blush.gif

With the latest 0.20b, i can render the whole map, but there are still problems. If i load it on 'near', i see everything, but the biggest part of the objects are LOD.

I had the same problem with the 0.1a

With the 0.12a, i only saw a few objects when i rendered 'near'

I would really want to have that i can render all objects near.

I have tried everything that probably would solve the problem, but it isn't changed.

I am now gonna check 0.2 but in 0.12 when I make an IPL it didn't add it to the .dat file so it can't be found later on... dunno if you fixed that yet?

 

Well one thing I think should be good to add are camera controls like in 3D Max... And possible vertex snapping, that would make placing objects alot easier! especially custom maps and stuff...

 

Anyways, great work, I love it, gonna check out 0.2

Hmm i have a problem with 0.20b, when i click visible files and load any ipl, they aren't even loading, it just tick the box, how do i fix that?

EDIT :: Nevermind, you click render, nice map editor anyway.
