Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 531 w/ HT Technology 3.0GHz 800MHz FSB 1MB

NVIDIA® GeForce™ 6800 GT PCI-E 256MB DDR3 (this will work with BF2 right?)

1GB Dual Channel Low-Latency DDR PC-3200 at 400MHz - 2 x 512MB

160GB Serial ATA 7,200 RPM w/8MB Cache

Total comes out to just under $1600. without moniter. Im going to buy a nice one later down the road.

So what do you think?

Yeah, way overpriced. The one that's being shipped to me right now has the same processor, only clocked at 3.2ghz, 1gb of ddr2 sdram(4x 256) same hardrive, only other difference is that it has a ati radeon x600 256mb shared(128 onboard) and 19 inch flat panel moniter. about 1300 bucks after shipping and tax.

HOLY f*ckING sh*t!!! Right as I was typing that the ups truck pulled up the driveway inlove.gif . Time to go try this thing out.

Extremely over priced

For about half the cost, ibuypower.com can get your a system that is better and comes with more.

For one thing, instead of DDR (Alienware) you can get DDR2 (ibuypower).

More mobos to choose from. More CPUs. More RAM. More GFX cards. More cases. And much much more (no pun intended).

Personally I'd rather get AMD 64-bit period, great performance and less cost.

I'd take it, but yeah, overpriced.

Cran.

Overpriced, anyone? Get one custom made by your loacl computer shop if you cant make one. MUCH cheaper and better. And it won't suck because it doesn't say Alienware on the case..

BTW, get Amd Athlon 64, much better processor, get a 7800 GT, way better than the 6800 GT.

Well its Alienware meaning quality and great workmanship but you pay for every ounce of that quality so they are over-priced for what your actually getting. Sure if you've got the cash lying around to just buy it then go ahead but know that you can get a better spec PC for less.

If it's an alienware case you want you can easily get one off ebay. Because I know for a fact that that's probably at least half the reason you want to buy from alienware.

Link.

Sorry I only read the first post. tounge.gif

Edit: Oh well aren't I an idiot. Perhaps I should try clicking the link before posting. dozingoff.gif

When I think alienware that case is basically the first thing I think of.

I think those cases are ugly, the one i wanted from alienware was that tiny small one. Thanks anyway though.

Alienware's cases are cool, imho. However, the markup is pretty astonishing, and doesn't represent great value for money.

Alienware try to combat this by pointing out how difficult it apparently is to build a system yourself, which is total bollocks, quite frankly. You can probably get most of your parts from the one retailer, and a couple of hours slaving over a new box is half the fun of the thing smile.gif

Then again, for plug-and-play gaming systems, Alienware pretty much own it.

That 30 minutes where you're putting everything together at the end makes all the bullsh*t of getting the money totally worth it.

So really your main thing is wanting a shuttle case and pack it full of goodies

Then try starting with this or this or this or this and then build up from there. And I'll be willing to bet you'll end up with a system you'll like better and is cheaper.

Granted it won't be "Alienware" and you'll have to build it yourself or get someone else to put all the pieces together, but still worth it if you ask me.

Same price will give you Athlon 64 4000+, 2GB RAM, 200GB HDD, 7800GTX, etc if you build it yourself or use ibuypower.com catloaf_by_anuj.gif

As I said, it preforms like an Intel 3.7 so an Intel 3.2 wouldnt exactly be better. And besides, AMD is best for gaming.. catloaf_by_anuj.gif

Here..

But if you go down to 1GB ram you could get the 7800GTX though, without adding to much extra to the price..

How head strong are you on going with Intel?

With an AMD 64bit I could put better parts into it.

The base AMD64 with PCIE is about $150 cheaper than the base Intel Dualcore and $80 cheaper than the P4.

What are you base requirements is basicly what I'm asking;

AMD or Intel?

ATI or nVidia?

OS included or not? ibuypower can include it for an extra $89 or newegg.com has XP Home SP2 OEM for $92

How much RAM?

Minimum size HDD? and how many? 1 or 2

CD/DVD drive; ROM, combo or all burner? and how many? 1 or 2 (this second at ibuypopwer gets limited choices)

Good sound card or stick with onboard?

CD/DVD drive; ROM, combo or all burner? Well, i just want to be able to burn cds so it doesnt matter.
