Seribicus
Hello, I'm currently working on the first vehicle mod I've ever made for a game and could use some advice. The car I'm making has two racing stripes down the top of the car and one down the side of the car, and not very sure how to actually do them. Looking at how racing stripes were done in the previous games, it looks like they're simply split from the rest of the car, but I still don't see how to make them different colors. From my understanding a lot of things changed from Vice to SA, but I never modded anything for Vice so I really not very that familiar with it. What I'm really curious about is whether racing stripes down the side of the car are actually possible. If any experience modders have any advice for me I'd be very grateful to hear it any advice at all would be welcome, even if its only what a decent poly count is. Augh
You don't want to know what answers that polycount question will get you around here.. Stripes are generally just a case of assigning a material (If you don't know how to assign materials, stop, put this on the side and learn some basics first) to those rows, having designed the vehicle so the rows can be picked out and not require straightening and such. If you use alpha on the side ones and they cross your doors you may have issues, best to just avoid that. Cheers
Seribicus
I did take the center racing stripes into acount in the beginning, so those shouldn't be too difficult to do now that I realize its simply an assignment of materials. It just didn't seem that obvious to me. I'm used to texturing being done by bmp that are more or less out in the open. Although, I probably won't start assigning materials until I've joined the two halves of my car. I think for now I'll leave the side stripes off cause they do cross the door, and I can always add them in later after I've gotten the rest of the car finished. I still have much of the car left to finish(mostly damage parts and dummy materials). thanks for the advice
