Dublo 7
Oh f*ck yeah. Finally, the new SPIDERMAN villans! By: The Agency Dated: 22:48 on 09/26/2005 It’s been quite some time now that folks have been running around trying to find out the villains in the next Spidey flick. People have been swapping rumor for rumor with the occasional piece of truth interweaved within. Even those of us with no real interest in SPIDERMAN 3 kind of want to know now that it has been hyped so much... Okay, no more leading you on…In a recent interview with zap2it.com, while promoting her new film ELIZABETHTOWN, Kirsten Dunst let a big secret out. If this bomb-drop was not planned by the studios someone might even be a little angry over this, but really, who cares about them anyway? We want to know now, dammit! Kirsten had this to say: "We have really great people though as the villains in this film, Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace -- Venom and Sandman," it would seem that she realized her mess-up, adding, "maybe I wasn't supposed to say that." Venom and Sandman. Now that the cat is out of the bag, you have to admit that this is pretty cool. Both these characters have been high on the list in recent rumors, but nothing has been official until now. It will be very interesting to see how they pull these two characters off, as they are probably two of the hardest characters to do live-action: what with sand flying everywhere and Venom’s transforming costume. http://doubleagent.com/article.php?a=1209 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Vengence
Venom? If they pull this off without the movie being a sh*tbag, I will rejoice.

Well not really, but he can turn into sand and what not.

anuj
TOPHER GRACE IS VENOM? That makes absof*ckinglutely no sense! Hey, you never know when you need a skinny white kid who could scare a puppy to play one of the most f*cked-up creatures in the Spider-man series. At least Venom is finally in the movie. Hopefully he'll be 98% CG and 0% Topher Grace voice. There's nothing wrong with the kid, but this is just serious miscasting.
Otter
Yeah, see here... The symbiote suit had BETTER be on Spidey first. In that case, black spidey = skinny spidey. Now, the suit leaves spidey, and moves on to... Topher Grace? And becomes a big ball of muscles? Why, exactly? Church and Topher ought to have their roles reversed. I wouldn't mind a skinny sandman. Unless, of course, Topher is busy doing a full body makeover like Mcguire did originally... but that in itself will just be plain creepy.

Hah, I can hear it now. *phone rings. <rafael palmeiro> yeah? <topher grace> hey, rafi. I need help. I thought that same thing about switching Grace and Church (it never explicitly said Grace was Venom, did it?), but I think the slight size advantage would be a better thing for Sandman. That f*cker was huge. Oh well. I didn't think the first two would be as awesome as they turned out, so hopefully I'll be wrong again. So... are they going to be doing the route where Jameson brings back the symbiote, or are they doing this "Ultimate" SM stuff where Brock and Parker's parents "invented" it? Or are they going to sneak in the "special costume for fighting on ultra secret war on a different planet" idea? Jason290
Well, atleast now we finally know, Thanks for the info'. Bit of a shame that the cast lets the film down a bit although i'm sure it's still something to look forward to. J290.
Werleman1
Uhh... I just looked up Topher Grace... what the f*ck were they thinking? Otter
Well, here's the deal - Peter Parker IS wimpy and small. Brock is big and all muscley and stuff.

Goodfella.
Yeah I heard this yesterday, just to let you know Kirsten Dunce also confirmed Lizard for Spidey 2, when only his alter ego Kurt Connors the Lizard's alter ego appeared. So Brock might be just getting set up for the next movie, with Topher only playing Eddie and not Venom yet. Oh and regarding his build, they might go the Ultimate universe route, where Eddie Brock was a skinny kid like Pete, but the suit changes him into the big hulking creature. Lookie here for an example... The Ultimate origin makes so much more sense and is way better than the original comic's too, and don't confuse the whole moon rocket thing from the 90's cartoonwith the proper origin, that's not what happened at all. Think about it, someone near identical to Pete makes the different decisions and takes the utter opposite route going down the evil path, I think it adds some depth to it all, with the whole "With great power comes great responsibility" thing. I can't wait for Spidey 3, Raimi's delivered the goods so far, so I've still got faith in the guy.
Dalpura
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I fully agree. Speculations aside, this is f*cking exciting. Two of the best Spidey villains in my opinion. I can't wait to see how they do the costumes. As for Topher Grace, looking back at the actors they've chosen for the previous movies, I don't think there's any worry about how well an actor will fill into the part. ganja_man_biatch
i always wondered, why the hell is venom's mouth so big, when his human counterpart has an average size mouth, maybe in the movie thet'll jus cover his mouth
Goodfella.
The mouth is the suite making the pysical transformation, and probably Venom's biggest trademark, part of what makes him so scary. The mouth and razor sharp teeth will be in the movie no doubt, there'd be fan boy backlash if it were removed. I agree with Dalp about the actors chose so far, Dafoe and Molina were brilliant, so I trust the choices made for Spidey 3 too.

Kutthroat
C'mon bitches. Carnage > * Look at that ginger psycho. Sweet news though. .
Goodfella.
I always hated Carnage, he's just such the cliche one dimensional psycho, but he looks cool apparently so expect to seem him in Spidey 4 or 5 when the franchise starts losing steam and they have to pull off something big. I'm suprised they didn't save Venom for a later movie for the exact same reasons. Avi Arad recently said in an interview that there will be spin offs to Spider-Man, so that means there could end up being a Venom movie, with Carnage the villain perhaps? -shaDow
I'd have easily picked Carnage over Sandman, but I think it's cool that they're bringing a more familiar character like Venom into the picture. And I just noticed how similar Topher Grace and Tobey Maguire are in terms of physique (lolwusses).
Philtheonearmedbandit
Okay, everyone is assuming that Topher Grace is just going to play what he's been typecasted as in 'That 70's Show' and 'Win a Date With Tad Hamilton'. Need I remind you of Elijah Wood in Sin City people, or Ashton Kutcher in the Butterfly Affect? Sure he's of a smaller physique but the big bulky Eddie Brock looked way too much like Flash Thompson anyway, I always preffered the small moody Brock from the 90s series. Also Dunst did say something about the order being reversed, I don't know what she meant. But just remember, don't count your weasels before they pop. Dublo 7
I think Topher Grace will do a great job. Sure he may not be the jock type, but I think he could pull off the acting very well. I would love to see him lose his mind then turn in Venom.
