The DVD will only have the original trailer and English sub titles for "extras"

Just the movie basically.

Apparently, this re-release came about due a petition sent to Paramount from The Warriors Forums.Yes,this old movie has legions of followers.

I think the game may have been a factor as well....obviously.

No, that was the original DVD. This new one has extras on it.

I stand corrected..well sit corrected actually but...

Got mine the other day and it does have some extras.

They managed to find a good number of the cast members. The biggest extras are with the director though.

It does come with a promo paper for the Rockstar game as well as a video of the game.

Same old movie more or less.A few minor changes that only cult folks will notice.Digitally remastered blah blah makes for very good quality. It looks ALOT better than it did back in the theatres.

only $15 CDN

I just read reviews on it and well..............it sounds like the director f*cking ruined it. I won't be picking this one up.

I saw it today at the store for $12. If I had money, it would have been mine.

Emmm... how the hell can you wreck a re-release...?

Look at some of the reviews and you'll see.

SUMARIZEEEE!

Basically from what I read, they cut out a lot of good scenes and inserted some sh*tty comic book sequences. Better yet, I'll find a particular review and quote it here.

Edit - Here is one.

If you wanted any clearer indication that Director's Cut DVD's aren't always a great idea, look no further than this "ultimate" reworking of The Warriors, a wonderfully pure piece of high concept cinema from the late 70's that has been transformed - by a director clearly out of his mind in thinking this kind of inane pretentiousness would improve matters - into comic-booky codswallop. Literally.

If you've been paying attention to the one-star reviews that are flooding these pages, you're now aware that the new cut enhances what Walter Hill sees as the story's comic book origins (when in fact it was adapted from a novel) by inserting actual comic book-style panels as scene transitions, complete with dialogue balloons and "Meanwhile..." tags. But even worse than this is a new intro, which announces to one and all the roots of the story in the works of Greek historian Xenophon. It does this with bad, bad, BAD drawings (I was a comic book artist for ten years, so trust me, I know bad comic art), and narration from Hill himself that is in *grammatically incorrect English*!! Get this: it begins, "Over two millenniums ago..." WTF? "Millenniums"? Unless we're also seeing a new "Ultimate Director's Cut" of the English language, as far as I recall the plural of "millennium" is "millennia". A veteran writer/director like Walter Hill can't even put his hands on a frickin' DICTIONARY?

Now, I'm generously granting an extra star for the bonus documentaries because they actually are pretty decent. We learn a lot about the difficulties with the shoot. Most of the original cast has been reassembled. We learn interesting bits of trivia, like the fact that Luther's famous taunt "Warriorrrrrs, come out to plaaaay-aaayyy" was improvised by that actor right there on the set. Or that the Baseball Furies' makeup was inspired by Kiss. We don't hear enough about the real life post-release controversy, such as the gang violence that really erupted during some screenings. But overall, the docs are worth seeing for fans of the movie.

I do give thumbs down for no deleted scenes section. The well-known alternate opening, set during the day with Cleon's girlfriend begging him not to go to Cyrus's meeting is seen only in clips in one of the docs. They should have included it in its entirety, the way that the Escape From New York SE included the entire deleted bank robbery and capture opening. (I do agree, BTW, with the decision to keep it out of the final cut. The movie's structure from night to day gives it a perfectly consistent atmosphere. To go from day to night back to day would have been a less effective choice.)

As for a commentary, okay, if Hill doesn't like them he doesn't have to do one. But why not the cast, or the producers, or some well-known critic who's a fan of the film? Really a letdown.

The best I can recommend is renting this just to see the docs if you're a big fan of the movie. But if you already own the previous movie-only DVD from a few years ago, FOR GOD'S SAKE DON'T GET RID OF IT.

I don't want to watch all that sh*t. I just want the movie with better picture and audio. cryani.gif And maybe a few extras.

Then for god sake rent the dvd version that is already available or buy that one. It has the whole movie and isn't ruined by all that comic book sh*t that the directors cut apparently has.

For some reason, I trust Smash

...well, that could be serious error in judgement wink.gif

Been along time since I saw this flik and I really didn't even notice the difference.

To be fair,I never was cult follower of the movie. It was an ok movie when it was released and that hasn't changed. Its not a GREAT movie.Never was

..but if you've never seen it,you should.Especially with the game coming out.

Are you sure it was the directors cut that you saw, because I think anyone that has seen the film once could notice that comic book sh*t they put in it.

Yes but it was so long ago that I saw it I wasn't sure. Its no big deal really.Just a few seconds while the scene shifts.I think it suits the movie.

We're not talking about buying house here.It was $15 CDN which is like $10 US.

If you allready have the movie then I guess there is no reason to buy it.I did not and could not find it anywhere in my area...and it was interesting seeing the actors and how they've aged. There was Cochise,Swan,The Evil Bad Guy(whatever his name is) and the girl from Too Close for Comfort...thats as much of the extras I watched.
