EDIT: It was really more that there were some bad screenshots floating around. The official screenshots and trailers look very nice. Also, multiplayer support is very cool. I realize now that if LCS looks plain, it is due to the fact that it is a recreation of the original Liberty City. Anyway, the game seems like it is going to be totally sweet. PS I just want to make it abundantly clear that I have made a complete 180 on my opinions about the graphics. I now think are actually INCREDIBLE. Fletchnuts Posted September 27, 2005 Share Posted September 27, 2005 I agree that LCS doesn't stack up to it's older brothers, but you have to realize that LCS is a portable game. To compare the PSP to the PS2, XBOX, or PC would be like comparing apples and oranges. Many people seem to believe that the PSP is more capable graphically than the PS2 but I think they're in for a reality check. Don't look at LCS and try to pick it apart pixel by pixel, look at the bigger picture, at what Rockstar is trying to achieve on a handheld. Nothing this grand has ever been playable in your hands (laptops aside). The PSP is not more powerful then the PS2, it may be close to it but that still does not translate into PS2 level graphics. The UMD discs don't hold as much data so that immediatly cuts down on the quality of the textures and models. Besides also factor in that we are seeing screenshots on our computers as opposed to the PSP's small LCD screen so you probably won't be able to pick out the less then perfect graphics. I did point out that my disappointment with the screenshots wasn't based entirely on graphic quality but also on the overall look and visual design of the art itself. It is my opinion that all of the artwork and designs seem to be rather boring and ugly. I should point out, however, that I have yet to actually play this game on the PSP and will have to reserve final judgement for when I do. The multiplayer support is also very cool. Twistie Posted October 2, 2005 Share Posted October 2, 2005 I have one of the really early PS2's (They did some fixes a few months after I bought it as I recall) and I can honestly say that in my opinion the quality is that of my PS2 in GTA3. If you played Medievil or wipeout you wouldn´t say things like that, these games looked really good, but GTA LCS is a whole different league I mean it´s a whole city and you complain about graphics I think LCS will be the best looking psp game when it´s released even the draw distance is improved compared to GTA 3.I don´t get why there are so many people out there complaining about the graphics. GTA SA on Ps2 wasn´t the best looking game on Ps2, but it still owns all other Ps2 Games that´s for sure so just try to trust R* they never dissapointed us or did they? Also Gameplay, storyline,variety, replay value, controls* > graphics. *I say controls, because I can't play the original GTA and London:69 because I don't like the controls. Ben Fleming Posted October 2, 2005 Share Posted October 2, 2005 In my opinion, it'll look much better on the PSP... if you'll notice, the screenshots are larger than they would appear on the PSP, so they look blockier and there is less fine detail. This game looks amazing even if the characters look like N64 rendered models. The buildings and everything else look like PS2 quality 3-D models.
