Gta1player
I looked up overclocking of nVidia cards on the net and came up with this link " www.Guru3D.com " there is actually an overclocking option in the nVidia drivers that nVidia hid and there is an option to test and overclock to what nVidia card you have can handle safely , im not saying its safe to overclock but i did that test and my San Andreas runs close to flawless on very high at 1024x768x16 . if you have a nVidia card its worth checking out . it requires a reboot inorder for it to take effect . its not a tool but its a regestry entry that opens the hidden options . just make sure when you run that test you put the setting on "performance(3d) " (i take no responcibility for overclocking damage ) original core clock freq. 250 original memory clock 350 safely clocked core clock freq. 264 safely clocked memory clock 430 it runs great , just be careful overclocking . maelstrom
Was it "cool bits"? Also have you tried some extra cooling? it may help boost your core overclock...
Cran.
It would have been the in-driver overclocking utility. They are in most of the modifed performace drivers. BTW, you can overclock your card more than the utilty says you can, you just have to move the silders up a couple of MHz everytime and test it. That optimum frequencecy button never gets the whole overclocking potental. For example here; My stock clocks (GeForce 6800 Go 256MB GDDR3): Core: 330MHz Memory: 1000MHz/1GHz "Optimum Frequencies" Core: 367MHz Memory: 1070MHz/1.07GHz Complete potental: Core: 374MHz Memory: 1110MHz/1.11GHz Edited September 27, 2005 by Cran. Devyl
I use coolbits on my 7800's and I jumped from 450/1.2 to 509/1.3 all air-cooled, no artifacts.

BTW, can you feel the difference, since the card is very fast anyway?

As far as 3dmark05 goes, yeah, I can see the difference. As far as gaming goes? I can see the difference in heavier games, like BF2 & H-L2. I didn't think you could actually see the difference with such good cards. I got the 7800GTX but I don't think i'll overclock it though, it's doing fine in BF2 and HL2
