I've seen this problem mentioned in Maximum PC's Guide to Building a Dream PC.

That particular error is very common and is almost always caused by a memory error.  A piece of your RAM could be faulty, or you might have a poorly seated RAM stick.  To troubleshoot, turn off and unplug your system and then remove one stick of memory.  Restart your computer and use it long enough to cause a crash. [if you computer doesn't crash], try each stick until you either find one that causes the crashing or you test them all.

I've had nearly exactly the same BSoD a few times (pic) and I ran a intensive memory test program for about 12 hours, and there were no errors/warnings at all. So I'm pretty sure it is not my memory.

I'm still clueless as to what is causing them to happen on my pc, I have the latest drivers and all that, just random bsod's every 5 days or something.

Its always hard to find out what is causing a BSoD, Windows isn't that good at explaining what exactly happened.

I've never experienced a BSOD with XP, UNTIL I was running GTASA the other day and I went to change the inbuilt AA setting and I get a BSOD similar to that. Trust me I know the feeling when you see one, I tried doing the same thing and it did it again so I am sure its probably SA as its always giving me some strange problem.

I've had that screen so many times it isn't funny. About 75% of the time, it's faulty ram. The other 25%? Your virtual memory and real memory get so full by apps & stuff that ka-pow BSOD biggrin.gif

Out of interest, how old is the PC?

This could be a simple case of needing a good old re-format and starting from fresh. Constant updating of drivers, removing and installaiton of software can casue corruption and conflict in the most unlikeliest of places.

Might be time to back everything up and start over. If it dosen't solve the problem, at least you'll have a fast and fresh install of windows when its fixed.

Also, is this windows XP?

This had happened to me loads of times, when this happens Windows is just giving you a sign to reformat. Every time I get this, I just backup my stuff, and reformat as soon as I can.

You should really get an external HDD. A 20 GB would be enough imo. But I'd just get a DVD-RW. Much better and worth imo.

For the Windows thing, you do need the serial number of the disc if you're going to re-install Windows.
