Loman
I don't know if it would be a good idea or not, but it sounds pretty cool. I figured I'd post it and see what everyone else thought. It lets you have an Imageshack upload form above the text box when you hit reply on the forums Click here for more info
SWEETSAPRIK
Not a terrible idea, but they unless it makes GTAF some money then I don't really see the point. Create your own Image Hosting website! Place ads around the upload form, market the website, and profit! This might be the only real reason to do it, although I'm not sure whether or not it would conflict with the google adsense rules. I think that adsense can't be used on a page advertising something else, or at least advertising something that the adsense banner would/might advertise. If that's the case then the only way to use this and not violate the adsense policy/lose money, would be to have one single ImageShack upload page. But that kind of defeats the point since the best feature of this is the ability to add it to any page you'd be posting on. I guess you could remove the adsense from the "Replying" pages and add this, but that might be a pain in the balls to do, or again, it might just lose GTAF some money. Also, there are imagehosts with higher limits, and some (like this one for example) let you upload multiple images at once, which saves a crapload of time, and superfluous clicking. Also, implementing this would sort of be like making Imageshack GTAF's "Official imagehost" again not a bad thing, but not really needed. Then you'd also have to take into account their TOS. * The immediate termination of user's ability to use ImageShack® or any of its provided services. A banned user will experience the following consequences: o The ImageShack® website will not load. o All ImageShack®-hosted images will not load. o All images and accounts related to the infringement will be deleted. ImageShack® will not hesitate to completely ban any domain which uses ImageShack®'s services without regard to ImageShack®'s Terms of Service. If a domain is banned, any file hotlinked on that domain will display this image. If such a situation occurs, the domain's owner must ensure the quick removal of all files hotlinked from ImageShack® on that domain. If the domain's owner feels that the domain was banned without justification, the domain's owner should Contact Imageshack. The domain owner should provide a direct link to the URL that shows the banned images, not just the site's domain name. What would happen if one individual GTAF user uploaded something that was against their rules? They could then block all images from showing up on GTAF. It might only be temporary, but it could still be a pain in the ass to work out, and with none of the images uploaded to their site showing, it could cause the staff a headache. Of course I have no idea WTF I'm talking about, so this could be a great idea, as well as a way to increase revenue, but it just seems like a lot of work and thought would need to be put into it. EmSixTeen
Been discussed before, and as you can see, we don't have an ImageShack box.
Canoxa
Also, many of our members already use ImageShack.
Enano
I think it would be very useful, Imageshack is a great service, and having it right here in the forum would be great. EmSixTeen, would you mind posting a link to the old topic you are talking about? I tried to search, but I didn't find anything.

It seems a great deal of you missed that point, which pretty much made the argument AGAINST imho. Imageshack is great and everything, but if you need convenience to the point that you don't want to leave a forum page, you need to go for a walk. Or consider Imageshack's many other alternatives to slowly assimilate you into their image-hosting master plan for world domination. I know they have plugins somewhere on their site that allow you to right-click on any image on your computer and upload it to imageshack immediately. Go use that or something. Vin.
I'm sure I recall GTAF being banned once before by ImageShack. I'm not sure though. Edited October 10, 2005 by Big Vinny

E.A.B.
This sounds good. 99% of the time, I use imageshack to upload images to GTAF. I know, I would sound lazy if I said that we should put it up, but consider this..... First off, I have to open up a new tab for imageshack. Then, I have to search for the picture I want to post. Then, I have to upload it and wait (I have DSL so it isn't that long, but members with Dial Up must hate it). Then, I click on the thumbnail or n the "show image" icon and click "copy image location". Then, I come back to this tab, click image, add rely and I'm set. I know I seem lazy, but it would definately help out the members with dial up. I remember how much of a pain in the ass it was. It only takes me about 1 to 2 minutes to do that, but it would hel the people with dial up, I thnik it used to take me up to 5 minutes to do that. When I first got here, I didn't even know about imageshack, so it would also help new members. Maybe you can create your own imagehosting service? Or find anther one or something. I like to think of iageshack as GTAF's official image hoster .
Justin
Did you even read the above posts? If you're too lazy to host an image at Imageshack manually, you're too lazy to get free hosting. It's really not that time-consuming, even if you do have dialup.
E.A.B.
...t's really not that time-consuming, even if you do have dialup. well, it took me (when I had dial-up) around 3 to 5 minutes to do so. It wasn't much, but it was a pain in the ass when you finally clicked that "add reply" button and you land up on the second page when you were originally on the first page. The time part is what would worry me. You know, it just came to me that theres an easy solution. Keep a tab open for imageshack. Hmm....problem solved, right?
